'Nids are pretty screwed when it comes to Allies. If you're looking for firepower the Living Artillery formation is a great thing to have, as for vehicles what do you need them for?

[rant]Sigh I really hate the new allies system. Tyranids should not be able to have allies or necrons for that matter. [/rant]
That being said fluff wise chaos probably. If you want vech and you want it to make some sense fluff wise traitor guard.
*fluff explantion following*
I could see khorne or tzench being the primary chaos gods likely to work with the tyranids. Khorne becuase hey blood for the blood god. Tzench becuase he caused a tyranid invasion to further some plan he has.

Slightly? You're breaking fluff completely with just the idea.
Your shopping list is minimum troops, LONG range guns and low model counts to not get in the way. Tau are actually a good choice. Hammerheads and XV-88s in the Heavy slot, Riptides in the elite, park the long range weapons in a corner and let them shoot each turn while the Riptide wanders around being a Riptide. Infiltrate Kroot somewhere to be a pain and die and the HQ Crisis Commander can deep strike in with Melta. O'Shava doesn't scatter I think so it's a strong choice. Gives you a cheese unit, a long range tank killer and a Deep Strike Melta Deathstar unit.

Fluff wise Renegade AM are a good choice, and can add big guns to a Nid force, DE also are OK fluff wise and can be a good allied force...

The best ally for Nids is probably a single Vindicaire assassin. Easy to stay 12" away from a single model, and he has the long range firepower Nids lack.

Maybe you should find a new army? Chaos daemons with CSM would be what you are looking for.

Nnids should have one Allie option: IG/ AM. It would allow the old 'stealer cults back in to the game, and be fluffy. Automatically Appended Next Post: DaKKaLAnce wrote:nidsll wrote:I'm trying to fill the void one of stronger guns, two i would like to look at some vehicles on the board for show.

Got to agree, as vehicles and strong guns are not a 'nid thing. short range firepower and face eating are what they do.

I second this, it would be fluffy, provide an opportunity for lots of cool and fun conversions, and provide some big BOOM and rolling steel for your 'nids. Take a look at the cults:

Fluff wise it can be Astra Militarum or Imperial Armour 13 for Renegades. As others have said.. These would represent a genestealer cult infiltrating a planetary Defense force.

The most fluffy ally option for Nids is guard, using Conscripts as PDF Genestealer cultists. After them, there was an old Knight House (Mortimer) that was rumored to be genestealer infected and used a Tyranid as it's logo. Orks are also sometimes converted by Genestealers. People also often like to convert a Tyranid super-warrior to use as a Vindicare assassin. There has also been a case of a Mechanicum adept successfully capturing Tyranids and replicating an artificial synapse to use them to attack, in the Knight Handbook.
The above have at least a flimsy fluff excuse to use, using precedent in existing fluff even if it isn't much to go on. Anything other than that and you will simply be making up your own fluff or ignoring it completely. Space Marines are immune to Genestealer Corruption, likewise with Chaos Marines. Tau have avoided Stealers so far, but its possible. Necrons see Nids as a rival to them wiping out the galaxy and so go out of their way to exterminate them like vermin. Daemons likewise despise Tyranids, and avoid them when bale as they provide no souls to feed on, and they are weakened by the Shadows in the Warp. Eldar hate the Tyranids, because Tyranids have developed a taste for Eldar flesh and souls and so will always go after them if they can. Sisters are way too xenophobic, the list goes on.
From a PURELY competitive standpoint, I think the best allied armies for Tyranids are Tyranids. After that, Knights, Tau, and Necrons. However, Necrons are getting updated momentarily so I would hold on that. Knight Errants compliment Nids well by filling a lot of their holes (no big CC threat, no Ap 1). Tau are just shooty as all hell with a Firebase Cadre and help any army out. But, honestly I would just take a Cad and ally in a Leviathan detachment for allies.

I feel by adding an ally to nids thats not an ally you are hurting your army, your taking a chunk of points away from your nids pool and you are creating a bubble on the field that you have to stay away from to avoid fighting your allies. < the ideal play to win suggestion.
If its fluff you want, IG or Orks, both have had groups taken by genestealers and both have access to fun vehicles, downside tho is that they are both armies that ilke alot of models so the danger zone bubble just got bigger. <To answer the OP question.
Convert some nids and IG together and run them under nid rules, no reason that pack of gaunts cant be composed entirely of mutated ig who are half nid, or those big nasty bugs cant be bio-vehicles, infested leman russ anyone? Make the army look unique while avoiding some of the rougher edges in the rulebook. ><My opinion of what i would do.

If you don't mind the cheese take an imperial knight. But tyranids don't really need allies, I think it's because that they cant take them GW has given them so many formations.

How about you ally them with a House Mortimer Imperial Knight? You could say that the house is overtaken by a Genestealer cult.

Mortimer is the house that I use for my allied Knight when I take him. Now, I did have to update the logo slightly, but Knights are great allied with flyer heavy Nids. But with Turannocytes, I think they are less needed.
