Krieg! What a hole...

Yeah, this is the funny one with stuff like stunt doubles and ''super X weapons''

Not the current ''I want my dudes to be able to kill everything everyone on their own at all time because we're soooooooo cool and noone should be able to stand up to my awesomeness'' bullcrap that shows up every so often (and more and more nowadays >:c)

Bit bitter are we?

No I get it, I kinda posted this to point fun of people, because, you know, a lot of people want this. But, when it comes down to it, a game like this would be funny. The Space Marine (or Astra Militarum player, for that matter) are the "protagonist", and Protagonist have a goal to complete, which is usually something like "get in, fix something/rescue something, hold out until extraction", while the "antagonist" player plays Nids or Orks or Chaos or whatever. Then, the horde players could have a way to replenish their units, as to make it a fight of attrition to the Ant. player and a more tactical one to the Pro. player, while the Space Marine player basically uses four to six Hero class characters, who the Ant. players at most has one or two of (e.g. Nids could have the Broodlord as a blendermachine, Necrons could have the Lord be the focus of all synergy, so on).

I mean, it could be plenty fun, and very unorhodox.

I actually used it twice back when it came out (WD #300, right?). Won once, lost once. It would probably do even worse today, though.

Tau would stomp this that's for sure. Dark Eldar would have a lot of fun playing this as well.

Maybe I'll convince a friend to try it. Unfortunately I'd have to take the boots to him because of our last two games.

The funny (sad) thing is that in the current meta their points values would be around 50 (90/120 for the Rhino/Razorback) and people still wouldnt play them.

It should be kept in mind that these are exactly what they say they are "movie" marines, not "what Marines really should be Marines".

It was a tongue in cheek release in WD about a decade ago in 4th edition.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Yep, it's like "movie russians" not "what russians really are russians".

I'm fine with someone deciding to run Movie Marines so long as I can run my Movie Eldar or Movie Daemons to fight them.

You get a list based on a movie where you're the protagonist, I get a list based on a movie where I'm the protagonist. WS8/BS8 I8 on the Aspect Warriors and you can't draw line of sight to the Striking Scorpions.

In what world? Everyone knows Space Marines are the only ones worthy of a movie

That said, it still explicitly mentions Marines being seven feet tall!

That's what I've done, but then again, I'm full of myself like that xD

On the thing about "Movie" armies - I'd absolutely love that. I mean, if I were to play a Movie Ork Army, I should be able to regenerate new Boy units when destroyed and call them in to swamp my enemy, Daemons should be less powerful in general than Marines, but more plentiful and do loads of damage in close combat - You could also make the army spawn more and more Daemons on the field, unless the enemy somehow stop them from doing so. Bloodletters could easily be WS 5 BS 0 S 5 T 5 W 2 then.

Yeah played this list just for fun.
Basically one squad of marines is your army.
The guy with the missile launcher is death incarnate.
It WAS fun with just how nasty they could be.
Reminded me of Ogre; a single or small number of models taking on a full force... glorious!

you have a point on the rhino/razorback, excluding the lascannon, but everything else seems accurately to under priced since these are HQ stat lines, with 3+ rerollable, ignoring instadeath, fleet, move through cover, infiltrate, ever attack is rending, army with buy-able ignore wounds, 36" base range, everything is assault is totaly worth 50 points. in summary quitcha bitchin

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
