Sadly this one isn't for me. It looks quite good, but I've dropped a load of money on a Dungeon Board KS, and a Aliens themed KS Corridor Set. Both I've recieved and am very pleased about. I've got quite a bit of Spartan Scenics stuff and it's good quality, shouldn't be a reason why this offering isn't any different. Spartan are offering FREE worldwide Shipping on some of the higher pledge levels.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

So it has nothing to do with their current line-up of games?

Interesting. Not sure it's my cup (everything will be a cube with the same 4 pillars), but interesting nonetheless.

It's an interesting idea, though not exactly cheap.

Yeah it reminds me of a sturdier - but less versatile - version of the TLX stuff from WorldWorksGames. It might be worth jumping on for some of the resin terrain bits. Or the Med Lab / Warehouse / Armoury add-ons. Since their recent price rise, you can't get those accessory boxes cheaper than £15 in the UK.

Which terrain set was the Aliens themed one - Bug Hunt Corridors?

It's basically the Worldworks papercraft system with plastic pillars.

And the pillars look awfully wobbly in the video.

My thoughts exactly. For the same money, you can get a lot of Mantic battlezones...

Why on earth is Spartan doing a KS? They already have a main business that's churning product, a weird spin-off experimental group that sort of leads nowhere, an already existing 'scenery and terrain' line, and a dozen games, four of which are supported.

This is just totally random.

The plastic and cardboard remind me of old Necromunda setups for some reason. Curious to see how many designs they end up unlocking.

Those box sets are a pretty good deal though, I have to agree, especially if you're looking to start Spartan's games.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

They should have kick started the Spec ops game instead of this. Would have been way cooler

This could be a relatively straight forward way for them to familiarise themselves with running a KS before they decide if they want to crowdfund something bigger.

I don't see this funding, I would be surprised if it did. Doesn't look that great for the money.

And 80k is a BIG goal. There's a lot of really successful KS's that bring in only 100K.

Maaaaaaaaybe it's just me, but the "Dungeon Crawler" layout they show off is a wee bit misleading, as the pledge level gives you 24 tiles, whereas the sample picture of the pledge shows a layout made up of 36 tiles.

once you have the components of this system, your terrain is limited only by your imagination

Providing you only imagine in right angles.

It's interesting, but I see no benefit to their modular system over other currently available modular systems already available. You'd need to paint the plastic connections which would limit their use for switching out the printed cardboard floors/walls, and the connectors are too visible. Not terrible, by any means, but there's too many other (better) options out there right now, I feel.

I think my biggest problem is that they are 90mm squares. There's quite a bit of games and terrain out there designed around 3" squares that it makes very little sense to be so close to that size but not match it. Making 3.5" squares cuts out Deadzone, Mars Attacks and Dust Tactics as well as pretty much any grid based RPG.

I didn't even notice they were asking for £80,000. That's a silly amount for tooling one awfully simple HIPS sprue and printing some cardboard.

For comparison, look at what Maki was able to tool for less money

Not fond of it either. Also quite some of their previous lasercut stuff is these days hard to come by and it had some fitting-issues.

Then wait until Dec 2015 until you receive the box sets, even if you only order box sets and no terrain.

I missed the Dec deliver date There's no way I'd wait that long for something I can buy off the shelf. A £15 saving for a 10 month wait um.......no

Yeah, I was on the fence when I thought the scenery was plastic 3D but thin stuff, but plastic frames with just printed sheets- shee-it! That's a ridiculous price for the product and wait.

On the one hand, if you're going for a slightly board game style modular table, this approach looks like it would work better than the "pegs and connectors" approach that Mantic and Makki went for. Because if you're a pessimist, all the modularity claim for Mantic battlezones means is "You'll be gluing the pieces together eventually."

So this looks like it's more likely to be useful if I wanted to make a multi-level Space Hulk style board; then disassemble it and put the pieces back in the box until the next game.

Honestly, for something like this or the Firestorm Planetfall buildings, I think the best thing they could do for perceived value would be to publish design templates for the cardstock elements. "Here's your plastic frames, here's some pre-made cardstock walls, and if you go to our forums, here's all this other stuff our fans have done if you want your buildings to look like something else."

The pricing feels kinda wonky. You seem to get more/larger coverage of terrain from their hdf kits for the same amount of money. I guess it's for people who don't have much space to store terrain and want something that can store flat.

The issue to me is that if you don't have room to store terrain most people would rather their flgs, or a member of the group everyone can store their terrain at.

I'd be in for all the two player starter sets at £200, although I have no need for their terrain except perhaps their scenic add ons. Although I don't want to wait until December. Maybe if the 28mm game they've mentioned needed a lot of corridors I'd be interested, however then I'd want the 28mm game to be the focus of the kickstarter.

I'm going to go for a "meh" here. Doesnt seem to be gaining much traction either.
