Subject: Warhammer forge, are there any hopes?

I am often looking at the forge world site but while there is lots of releases for the heresy the once for WFB seems to have died down with models being disconnected (tamurkhan for example) and units with rules not getting models (rot knights, CD blunderbusses etc). The black fire pass book was put on hold from what I heard but are there any hope for more wfb books and models or did they seem the line as unprofitable and decided to stop releasing stuff for it?

The line was officially put on hold a while back. I suspect that they'll restart it if 9th delivers a shot in the arm for WFB, but you shouldn't expect anything until then.

Sort answer, no.
Long answer, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
But seriously I think they are in a holding pattern and running out of fuel as FW are forced to focus on the HH series and they can only do that for so long before they crash and burn. It's not too late to revive it, but I doubt GW will let them.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

If the rumours about the future of WHFB are true, GW will downsize the game and switch to the production of exclusive, limited time only, single miniatures and small units.
I have a hard time seeing where Forgeworld would still have a reasonable place in that business model, unless it was them who were going to produce the miniatures in the future.
(Focussing on exclusive, effectively limited time only, single miniatures, monsters and subfactions.)

A successful 9th edition might bring a flicker of hope, but the current line is for all intents and purposes dead and buried. The only reason they don't come out and state it outright is because it would make it harder to move the remaining stock.

It's a pity, I was really looking forward to seeing the Second (or whatever number it was after the first) Battle of Black Fire Pass, especially since they were already showing some of the early Orc/Night Gobbo kits for it too.

I do think it will come back once end times wrap up. Fluff is changing so no point in them releasing stuff that won't fit the new fluff.

I don't even have hope for Imperial Armour. All IA books that have been released recently were second editions, revised editions and general updates for preexisting stuff, mixed with HH stuff for 40K

Joking right? Forced to make space marines instead of WFB models? More like.. forced to print money. Somehow I doubt FW will crash and burn for making too many space marines.

It is quite sad that they have given up the focus on warhammer forge for heresy (especially since they said that the 2 teams would not affect each other). But if 9th is better then its rumors maybe we can get som new fancy stuff. The new space marines of fantasy might need som super expensive super weans only available on forge world.

Forgeworld is the Horus Heresy company now, and it seems that their success in that area is very real. Warhammer Forge was never moretp than a sideline in comparison.

It helps when that bit is the single most popular loadout for a core armies most powerful unit that was left off the sprue because the designers are morons.

I don't put much faith in what GW store managers say. But the chances are that GW will just remove Warhammer Forge products when the time comes and leave it to internet speculation and panic as to what is going on. Just like when they wound up specialist games. Communication and openness they do not do.

The number 2 item in one month, yeah. Also as said its the only way to make the most popular loadout without converting, so yeah it's gonna sell well.
Clearly the Heresy stuff is doing very well. I don't blame them for focusing on it, they're probably making more money than they've maybe ever made, and the Heresy stuff is amazing. People have wanted Heresy stuff for years so I don't get everyone else complaining that 'all they do is heresy now', it's not like it's GW that have just been focusing on the Heresy, it's a very niche part of the company that's just focusing on the Heresy. And a lot of the heresy stuff can be used in 40k as well, either just using the armour, or using the rules in the IA books for the vehicles. They always did mostly Imperial stuff anyway.

I know in several WHF blogs and podcasts that I follow and friends who were at Games Days, all said the same thing. When asking the people at FW what the status of Warhammer Forge, they said, it was on hold indefinitely. The amount of money it made was tiny compared to HH. It wasn't worth the investment.

Warhammer Forge was, if I recall correctly, the pet project of Rick Priestley before he was made redundant. I believe he was given free reign to do whatever he pleased with it. As he is no longer employed by GW, I can't imagine the range continuing.

Well, I'd say even the 40K Imperial Armour stuff is getting trimmed and run down:
Last year, a load of them disappeared including some recently released stuff: Eldar, Imperial Guard, Last of the Tallarn line
Recently, the Thudd Gun for the Death Korps has disappeared as has some Elysian bits and some more Imperial Guard tanks.
End times indeed
