Working on a "fix" for the Celestian unit within my gaming group, hoping for some input on a fair cost for the following improvements over the Celestians base unit.

Celestians gain the Sigil Sororitas rule: The power of a Celestians faith in the Emperor is their greatest weapon. The display of the Sigil Sororitas upon a Celestians wargear confers the same protection as a Rosarius (4++).

In addition to their standard wargear, Celestians are also equipped with a Power Weapon.

Any adjustment to the cost?

Was hoping for input on what might be a fair cost for the upgrade to the unit. They become similar to SM Honor Guard although the stats might offset some of the cost compared to them.

Somewhat, but a 4++ is a very very nice buff. Put a priest with them and you are amazingly durable.

We have had some debate on the issue. Mostly focusing on the durability of a 2+ with T4 and a 3+/4++ with T3. Honor Guard are 25 points a piece, and Celestians with a priest would be very nice, but how do you cost that when so much of that effect is from the priest itself?

Currently we are sitting around the 24 point mark, with a squad of five with a vet sister superior at 120 pts, +24 for each Celestian afterwards. Low estimate is 22pts, with highest at 28 per.

Most are in favor of a return of all the sister superior models that have been replaced by stormbolter sisters converted to combi-weapons.

I'd prefer a return to more useful Acts of Faith instead of the current minifeats before talking about anything else. That said I might call them slightly overpriced at 24pts if I'm going to compare them to TSons as preexisting power-armoured bodies (which aren't exactly underpriced themselves) with 4++; you're S/T3, your AP3 weapon is S3 melee instead of S4 24" range, and you don't get access to a psyker in Troops out of the deal. I'd put them at 20-24pts/model.

Thousand Sons are a fair price, the reason they're cripplingly expensive is the Sorcerer, who costs about twice as much as he should.

Lychguard (T5 3+/3++ with power sword) are 28 points per model now. Celestians are overpriced at 17 PPM. I'd say that 20 points would be fair for a Celestian with a Bolter, a Rosarius and a Power Weapon, given that they're still I3 T3.

If they get a option to buy back a Bolt Pistol, then it should be about 3 points though, since that'd give them 3 attacks.

The other option, if the Rosarius is too strong, would be to make Sigils give a +1 bonus to their invulnerable save instead of a flat 4++. That way, with a Warlord with the right trait, they have 4++, which gives synergy, but on their own they're only a little more resilient than normal (making the price of the power weapon being so low far more palatable, even though there are plenty of units that basically get them for free)

GK are paying less for force weapons. I don't think the power weapon would be particularly underpriced at 20ppm.
