I... actually don't know. Help?

If you could decide on what 2 armies the next starter kit would have, what would you choose? Think 700- points for each army.

The ones I'd love would be:

IG vs Lost and The Damned (GEQ vs GEQ? AW YEAH!)
IG would have a random commisar, 10-20 Guardsmen and maybe a Sentinel.
The Lost and The Damned would have a Chaos Lord, a few cultists/Traitor Guardsmen and a Chimera/Sentinel.

Necrons vs Orks
Necrons would have a random Overlord and a few Warriors, maybe some Immortals, the Orks would have a Warboss, a few Boyz and a Killa Kan.

DE vs IG would be quite cool, make the IG Tallarn or Mordian or something like that.

Tau vs Tyranids
Necron vs Eldar

Anything not MEQvsMEQ would be nice.

Odds are it's going to be Imperial vs. non-Imperial.

Guard vs. Tau maybe ?

Considering every starter set ever is going to come with marines... (just taking some cool sounding battles from codices/warhammer)

Damnos - Ultramarines/Deathwatch v Necrons
The Blood of Khaine - Imperial Fists vs Eldar
Targus VIII - Raven Guard(Shrike) vs Orks
Armageddon - Blood Angels vs Orks
Bloodplague Crusade - Salamanders vs Daemons
Raid of Chogoris - White Scars vs Dark Eldar
Nimbosa Crusade - Black Templar vs Tau
Parathen City - Iron Hands vs Chaos Marines
First War of Armageddon - Space Wolves vs Grey Knights ()

Let's see, we've had:

Crimson Fists vs Orks
Black Templars vs Dark Eldar
Ultramarines vs Tyranids
Ultramarines vs Orks
Dark Angels vs Chaos Space Marines

Going with the logic that it will be at least 1 Loyalist MEQ vs a non-loyalist army.

The most likely options will be armies that were released in 7th ed. So for MEQ, this could be Space Wolves and Blood Angels (interestingly, neither army has been a start kit army). I doubt Grey Knights will ever be a starter army.

For the non-loyalist, you have a few options that would just be repeats: Dark Eldar and Orks. If we ignore those, the harlequin codex, and the remaining MEQ armies, we are left with Necrons. Now, of course I'm not saying that it will definitely be vs Necrons, but if a starter kit came out tomorrow, it could very well be one.

Everyone saying 'it's going to be marines' the point of the thread is what would you like to see, not what will it be.

That's fine, I didn't say you can't want space marines, my point was you don't have to stick to what's been done already.

True, but OP apparently disagrees with my opinion.

Seriously, though, I would like to see a starter set featuring Tau and Necrons. The two high-tech races going up against each other.

I don't think we've had Tau in a starter set yet. That could be nice. Put them against, I don't know, White Scars?
We've been seeing quite a bit of the Damnos dustup in the fluff for a while. Ultras vs Necrons would pretty much write itself.

Lame.

Replace Grey Knights with Space Wolves and call it "the Ecclesiarchy's random visit to Fenris".

As an added bonus, you don't need to muck about with Daemons. Space Wolves did it just for gaks and giggles.

Tau vs. Orks could be nice. They fight the Orks a lot in the fluff, it seems.

I think it would be an awesome way to reintroduce Sisters with a new Starter Set! New models and new plastic kits. Whoever they faced off against, if GW ISN'T thinking of this? They should be flayed with nerf fails for such a fail.

I'm not sure it would be a good way, could end up like Deffkoptas/Chosen/Cultists etc where they think 'oh we don't need to make a kit for these because they're available as monopose snap fits in a starter...'

It's going to have SM of some description in it, they always do. Going by enemies that haven't been in starters before I'm going to guess Craftworld Eldar, Necrons, or Tau.
