Who else is hoping orks get a bone thrown their way ? Compared to the last few codex releases and the new harlequis, I feel orks could use some love.

Perhaps some thing like the tyranids got

To be honest, I wouldn't mind an overhaul that gave them a little more of a competitive edge.
If nothing else, it'd give me reason to get them out of the ol' storage space and finish the army off!

Doesn't that describe Kommandos ? I think in the old lore it mentioned they used badly painted camouflage in their ambushes.

back in 2nd edition they had "mad boyz" you had to roll on a chart to see what they did.

Kommandos did and still use crazy cammo patterns

I hear you, man. Remember when the Tyrannocyte dropped and it was so out of the blue? No one was expecting more reinforcements for the Nids (who'd not long had their codex) and then all of a sudden you've got a massive release for them.

Well, I'm hoping for something similar for Orks.

Looking through the codex, there are a lot of outdated models that could really use an update. Especially the Deffkopta and Warbuggy, which leads me to wonder how awesome a Speed Freaks-oriented release would be.

Speaking of which, they mentioned a picture of the new supposed Ork Buggy on one of the Frontline Gaming podcasts recently. I think they said it was in one of the Imperial Armour books. Does anyone have that picture?!

Might be in the re-release of imperial armor 8.

@NidLifeCrisis - All those new deffkoptas won't be released because GW is sitting on a stockpile of old ones. Same with the warbuggy, I suspect.

I actually don't think this Ork codex is terrible. If we went back to mob rule and a few things dropped a few points I'd be fine with it. Paying 6 points for a Boy is a bit much IMO considering a guardsman cost 5 points and orks are supposed to out-number them anyway. Nobs functionally cost 40 points in a pack of boys, and are grossly overpriced otherwise to take on their own. Other than that the only thing I'd really take down in cost is the battlewagon by thirty or so points. 110 points for a naked transport seems a bit out of line.

There are some other nuisances and things that I feel should go down in cost, but that's because of the nature of the game. A close combat oriented deffdread will, with all likelihood, get into combat on turn 3-4 and by then the game is nearly (or is) half over. This is more of a function of the size of the board, deployment, and the generally anti-assault attitude this game has. Perhaps if they bring in movement distances like in fantasy and make the game overall assault friendly we'll see a buff for Orks and other races like nids that need love.

It would be nice if they redid the Ork Super-Heavy Bommers.

They would be interesting given they can drop off 20 stormboyz and one variant has the Stompas Deff-Arsenal.

Being they are AV 10/10/10 they wouldn't last long on the table as they are now.

It would be nice if they fixed Cowardly Grots too and lowered the points cost of the Orkanauts.

Heavy armor on flash gitz be nice.

Mob rule being used on fear. ( boyz will die to the last man , but will be afraid of what's killing them , WTF? )

Naughts being super heavies or cheaper. And more options.

A invul for cc.

also pointing out we are the only army out side of forge world with out access to a MC ( in codex or battle brother)

On the Orkanauts if they made them super-heavy walkers it would present a unique issue as then they would have to be a LOW meaning they would be in direct competition with the Stompa and Ghazghkull.

Unless they made them like Knights where they are Super-Heavies that don't take up a LOW slot.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but we do have MC (squiggoth and Gargantuan Squiggoth). Maybe you meant that, without Forgeworld, we don't have Monstrous Creatures (in which case you would be right).

I'm of two minds with that. The squiggoths look great, and I would love for them to be available in plastic (of course, after I bought two in resin ), but I don't really want to see GW put some dumb model out just so we have MC. I'd hate to see 'Big Orks', which would make no sense---as all the other warbosses aren't MC. I'd hate to see ork squig riders. Maybe some Thunderwolf sized squigs? That could be cool and orky.

On the other hand, a release of new plastic buggies and koptas would be aweseome. I don't think we need the love, as we got the Gorkanaut, the new Mek Guns, and the Flash Gits, but it would be nice.

Fixing the dumb parts of our Codex, on the other hand, will take a lot longer. The new mob rule is just such a buzzkill, and losing the old, funny ramshackle was a shame.

If the reason for not releasing new models is that the old ones are still stockpiled, then wouldn't it make sense to announce that they're going OOP and market them as a collector's item since they'll never be made again, maybe even put them on sale?

Or is that just crazy wishing from a customer's perspective? I'll admit I have no good sense when it comes to business, and even less education and actual knowledge on the subject.

That could drum up sales a little, but the problem is the old model is pewter (which most people don't like dealing in), is ugly (subjective, the boy has what looks like a grot blasta), and people are aware of an often cheaper alternative on ebay. While I can't say I know their numbers, I'm sure some people still buy it (i.e. those who buy direct from stores / in order-points). I'm sure there's a large stock of the OOP Black Reach sets too that they're sitting on. Saying they're limited time really only works if there's demand. Certain space marine special edition codexes were up for a while, and my Games Workshop has like twenty copies of Stormclaw despite it being "limited and exclusive."

- EDIT: And the old deffkopta is 33 dollars and direct only, kek.

On the note of old models, I heard supposedly the Ork Stompa was in surplus given they were said to not be a popular item upon release.

I find orks pretty competitive. We just need some formations that make units like burnas and nobz more viable. More love for SAG. It's a canonical weapon.
Oh and something to make us actually want to use orky stuff like RPJ and Wrecking Balls.

Wasn't there an old apoc formation that utillized 3 Big-Meks with Shokk-Attakk Gunz and a hoard of Grots which were the ammo ?

Are you guys serious saying the Orks can't manage it as they are now? I've started playing the Orks about 6 months ago and played ten games with them so far. 4 of those were a draw, all others my Orks were victorious.

Well I've seen Orks pull out some victories.

Most notably the dreadmob Orks as some opponents never expect to face an army that is made up of nothing but walkers and vehicles.

Orks are actually very strong if you are willing to spend several thousands on tons of minis. Shoota boys are incredibly cheap for what you get.
