I do hope that when they say the lines will remain "online only" and allow the mini's to keep some limited production.

We use a number of the Anima Tactics mini's in our RPG games, and there are still more we want to grab.

This sounds right. I don't have any more Anima models, but they were larger than the average 40k. Though, I felt there was a large variation in Anima models.

Sounds like AT minis are 30-32mm, similar to Warmachine?

From what I saw, a little taller, but that was likely due to poses. They're also anime proportion, so thinner bodies, 8-9 heads tall, etc.

Never got to try the game. However, I have a feeling the anime art and setting was as much a hindrance as a help to its popularity.

Looks like they are trying to arrange a deal with Edge Entertainment for them to pick up the license. Not sure how much faith to put into that or if this is good news or not?

Hi everyone.
Regarding the announcement of Cipher Studios about Anima Tactics, I want to coment some points to make everything clear.
1°) Will it have an impact on the videogame?
Of course not! Gate of Memories development will go on in the same way as it was planed. The game is going to be finished and all the pledges will be given as promised, regardless if you are a backer of the first or extended campaign.
Anima Tactics was not directly related to Gate of Memories development.

2°) Will the minis of the Bearer and the Nameless be released?
Of course. Including AT rules for them. ^^

3°) Will another company takes over and continue AT instead of Cipher?
Right now, we are working with Edge Entertainment in a new branch of Anima Tactics sequel game. Give us time to prepare everything. ^^

4°) Will the Saga 3 rulebook be released one day?
Yes, but in a different way than the original plan. Right now, we are working in Anima Tactics Saga, which is equivalent to Anima Tactics sequel / 2nd edition.

ANIMA TACTICS seemed to suffer from quite a bit of divergence from 'concept art' to 'actual miniature' too...

Hard not to - AT is 30mm metal, and the artwork would seem to require the delicacy of 54mm resin.

The artwork never matched the figure's pose though, and that shouldn't matter what size it was sculpted at.

I do agree that the manga aesthetic is very difficult to get across at the scale the game was intended for.

Which is a shame, because that's my favorite kind of style. How I wish a Japanese firm would get it in their heads that there's probably a market for smaller, detailed gaming figures rather than the usual giant resin pinups or display models. But that's a topic for another discussion...

I know I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for clearance deals.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

They're not technically going OOP. You're still going to be able to buy them direct from SodaPop. It's just that Anima won't be getting new models.

In terms of detail they were pretty spot on. As for poses they were pretty much always different and not in a good way. The art had some nice poses while the minis had some questionable poses.

The minis quality was up there with Infinity's models (at least early Infinity)

The only gripe had with Anima's models were there faces. They had Family Guy level of detail on a quality anime style body.

sad to hear, anima tactics always had some pretty nice miniatures. I really liked the aesthetic of Hell Dorado, played a few games and even a tournament. Hope that Hell Dorado keeps trucking it is a simple game to grasp with some really nice miniatures and plenty of interesting options.

This. At least the model were/are nice. I'll theoretically find a use for them somewhere. I don't think I even opened the HD book to browse the art...

The Journey stuff looks really good. At tabletop distances, the PVC models are hard to tell apart. Only if you're doing competition painting is resin obviously better:

Mate, while they look nice, you keep posting them without mentioning that the scale is something like 54mm. It does make a difference/is an important point. If you're showing these off to people not in that KS/following it like yourself and I, they'll assume they're standard 28mm heroic.

There's a couple reasons why people are there, which the books do a pretty good job of explaining in the fluff. Lots of the westerners are there as a holy crusade, to go fight devils and bring the light of the church to the underworld. Hell also isn't quite as terrible as you would expect - certainly not the "everything is on fire and made from screaming souls" you might expect. It's a bit worse than going to the Americas in the 16th century, but not a LOT worse. There are vast untapped resources - uncut forests, untapped metal and gold reserves and vast territory to be claimed. The westerners have secured an area called New Jerusalem and operate out of their, expanding their control. Also magic works down there, so lots of people go seeking power. Explorers and scientists make new discoveries, etc. Trade routes also cut through New Jerusalem, since you can enter a portal in Germany, travel a bit through the underworld, and pop out one in China, saving a ton of travel time, tariffs, etc. Also, the world reacts to you, so the more you control, the more you can altar it. If they take enough from the demons, in theory they could make a mortal paradise.

The Saracens are there in part because they believe the way to Heaven is through Hell. They don't want the westerners getting there first. Also, the Old Man of the Mountain found a portal to hell long before the big one opened in Europe, and had been using it as a base of operations during the crusades.

The Easterners don't view it as the Judeo-Christian hell, so experience it a bit differently, due to their different expectations and the terrain warping powers of those in control. They're the fluff I'm least familiar with.

The main point of that picture is to show that PVC can look really good, even compared to a high detail resin.

Here's the Conan PVC, painted.

Those are PVC, and I think they look quite good when professionally painted.

It's not an issue of detail when it comes to PVC but pain in the ass it is to clean up the mold lines.

Spent an hour cleaning up Myth's miniatures until I just gave up.

Just finished assembling a construct heavy weapon mini part of the wild west exodus line. It was a dream to assemble.

I almost for it could be fun to assemble miniatures.

I'll take Infinity's tedious little metal bits over the pains of PVC.

Those are not PVC, they're resin; Monolith haven't produced any PVC models for the Conan game yet. That being said, I think the PVC models shown off for the Blood Rage Kickstarter starting next week are looking really quite nice, and perhaps the Conan stuff will too.

Sure, but the point I'm making is that without context people will think they're 28mm. All it takes is to mention the scale of the Journey models. Maybe one day we'll be able to take our very own pictures of them?

Well one could certainly very easily think so from reading that update you posted, but no we actually haven't seen any plastics from Conan yet (some of the backers were talking about material in the comments to that update too). The fact that they never produced a plastic prototype was the only reason I didn't back Conan.

Anyway, sorry for the OT, I realise this has very little to do with Anima Tactics!

The folks at Monolith are really good at giving seemingly innocent false impressions.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

Do you guys know if they ever released that big dragon guy for Anima Tactics?

I want to say it was Legion or something?

Is it still going to come out?

Considering how long it took them to release Morrigan, add to that the shenanigans that gave happened, the future of Legion is looking increasingly uncertain.
