I could have masked Badassius, I just haven't had many good experiences with masking. The liquid-peel stuff can be a right pain, tape usually doesn't go in the right shape. Sometimes I'll hand-mask with a bit of card, but usually I do my best to minimize overspray and fix it later. I'm an airbrushing novice so getting back to the brushes as fast as possible gets me back to my comfort zone.

This guy should be quicker to do. The first guy to ages (test model) Dardariel and his AC took a while but was definitely quicker.

A WIP picture for you all. Going to attempt an HR Giger themed freehand on the bike armor, then cany coat red. We'll see how it goes.

A DA who served in the Ravenwing will most definitely have a black section on their heraldry. Belial has that on his armour. Though some DA skip Ravenwing entirely, if they find out about the Fallen. If they can't handle the truth, or are not deemed useful to Ravenwing/Deathwing, then they are killed or quietly bumped off in an "accident"

OK. Sweet. The fluff I could find on Brother Varhmiel says he was formerly a long serving member of the Ravenwing and (at the time of DkVen) recently elevated from the Ravenwing to the Deathwing, so I'm reckoning he'd, as you said, def have something to honour his former company. I'm thinking of going with a black right pauldron under the deathwing symbol. Should look pretty tidy and at odds with the scheme I'm using. Cheers folks

@KAPcom: The initial freehand on that bike is stunning. Subtle enough that I had to do a second take to be sure I'd seen it, but really, really cool stuff!

If you are up to it and want to take this guy to the next level, try adding some freehand scrollwork in white to break up the large areas of armour. Going by his eyes, you have the brush skill to do neat work on that and it would really take the mini above and beyond.

As for the yellow piping, that was my attempt to make the Terminator's arm cables look more like industrial hazard striped ones, so much for that I guess

And I'll see what I can do scrollwork-wise, haven't really tried to do that since my feeble attempts at painting Ultramarines when I was a kid, so I think I'll delve into the Dakka gallery for some inspiration before painting away

I don't know exactly how many we are up to now, but I do know I stopped counting after 50! I think we're certainly past that.

Wow, everyone's WIP projects look amazing!

If it's not too late I'd like to join in; I have a new box of death company arriving tomorrow that need to get painted.

adding one more WIP, this is usually what I consider done (minus the base) before I move on to something new. Hopefully I'll have a bit of time to retouch these guys before end of the month.

Right, finally my Librabrian is 100% basecoated and washed. I already spotted a mistake or two that will be corrected but NOW the fun truly begins! The hell of basecoating is done, now it's the time for details! Fun times ahead, for this bad boy is filled to the brim with them!
