Fantastic stuff, OMN! It's going to be tough to vote on this before, already there's about 4 entries that could easily get my vote!

I suspect that mine is not one of them?

INSANE army lists still available!!!! Now being written in 8th edition format! I have Index Imperium 1, Index Imperium 2, Index Xenos 2, Codex Orks Codex Tyranids, Codex Blood Angels and Codex Space Marines!
PM me for an INSANE (100K+ points) if you desire.

Kinda disappointed by how badly my highlighting shows up. Bottom two shots show the arms and head are magnetised.

And a Before weathering shot:

Here's my entry for the competition, hope you guys like it

-Chapter Master and Chief Librarian of the Death Ravens-

I don't have enough time to make a diorama for these guys, but here's a pic of them walking dramatically towards eachother

Somehow, this reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 4's ending.

I got some more pictures of them in my gallery, I didn't include them because I didn't want to break the 4-pictures rule of the competition

+++FINISHED MODEL ALERT+++

Paradigm, I've been following this since the beginning. I was one of the first few who wanted to do this. And now, my model stands finished.
I present to thee, DA LOOTA

When the forces of WAAAGH! Deff'ead reached the planet of Hythred, the Space Marines there did put up with a fight, until they faced their biggest fears: Orks. In Power Armour. After a Space Marine is killed, the Meks and Painboys steal their armour, and puts a 'volunteer' inside of it. Soon, he is a killing machine, who can dakka down everyone, at the same time as he's being protected by mighty armour.
It's been fun, Para. Thank you.

Last WIP, in case I don't post any other photos this will be the one.

Not really happy with him, way too grey but I dislike metallics in any amount bigger than a hand so this was the route I took.

I know that feel

But at least we tried, which has to count for something, right?

Moral superiority? At least we don't go everywhere ashaming not-so-good painters with our work.

Well, the league thread when we get that far will list how many challenges you've completed even if you don't place in the top 3, so all of Dakka will be able to see what you've done. Hopefully you'll also have pushed yourself with your entry and maybe learnt something new in the process! I'll be encouraging people in the voting thread to provide feedback as well, so I'm sure someone will be able to give you some pointers to get even better!

On a side note, I noticed a couple of entries have been multiple pics in one image; this is absolutely fine (and frankly a blessing for managing the OP!), but could you still keep it to 4 angles/pictures in your final entry regardless of format. I'll let if go for this month, and make it clearer in the next OP, but I'm just trying to make sure everyone is on a level playing field pic-wise!

I'm feeling an Imperial Guard mentality here

Those damn Space Marines, in their fancy armour and their awesome weapons, they thinkin' they're better than us? WE don't need no power armour or blessed rounds to hold the line! - Probably what every Guardsman thinks when he sees the Astartes hog all the glory, again.

In all fairness, it's not like you can tell good painters to not paint their miniatures as good as they do

And we certainly learned something out of it, indeed

Edit: I find the best part of these competitions is the exchange of ideas and techniques, coupled with a good challenge, though I might not get a winning spot I still learn a lot about myself and my art

I couldn't agree with you more. I think another great thing about these competitions is that it pushes you to put that little bit extra into the model you're painting.

And here's the final 5 man Legion of the Damned squad I've finished up:

Can't wait to get a game in and see these guys on the tabletop. Even went so far as to pick up some more of the GW models and should at least be able to field another 5 man squad to go with this one.

Thanks Paradigm! Really glad you posted the competition or it would have been ages until I got around to putting paint on the models. It was great timing and even better incentive to get them done up.

And that's what it's all about. So long as these comps get people pushing their skills, putting paint on minis that would otherwise be shelf-bound for months, or coming up with such cool and original stuff, I'm happy to keep running them! I was worried the "Space Marine" theme would be a little narrow, but there's still a whole range of minis and styles on show here, which is great!

Already looking forward to starting again next month!

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get mine finished, but I hope I can give a good idea of what it was going to be.
It's something I drew up as a bit of a cathartic idea that just told me it needed doing, to exorcise a few raw feelings.

Then March happened, and it was not the best march I've ever had. As is, I can't find it in me to rush it for those reasons.

Well. It went from 60 some degrees with low humidity to 34ish by the time I got to the shop, did a test spray on some sprue. The particles turned to ice crystals, so no go on using my army painter. I'm getting worried but, the shop keeper told me he can set aside a day just for painting lessons.

So I might take advantage of this for Tuesday. Definitely participating in the next contest as the shopkeeper learned how to do a wicked white blue OSL ethereal flame for his LOTD.

So hopefully I can pull something out of my hat for this contest.

So after seeing those LOTD, I'm almost embarrassed to post these. But here is my FINISHED entry for the contest. There has been some stunning work going on in this thread, and I'm just glad to be a part of it.

Good luck, everyone!!

Midnight that ends the 31st, so literally the end of the month. That said, I won't get around to putting the final thread together until the following afternoon in all likelyhood, so if anyone ends up a few hours late then it's cool.

Some fine work there, Squall!

Cheers P. Squad is pretty much all done. Just need to squeeze the time in to paint their backdrop/display thingy. Some really amazing final pieces being posted here. I'd call this first contest a resounding success

Indeed! It seems what started as a late-night "wouldn't it be cool?" idea has really gained some traction, and I'm both surprised and impressed by the size and quality of the uptake. I was expecting maybe a dozen entrants and half of them to not finish, but we've ended up with far more than that and already I look forward to seeing the fruits of next month's challenge!

You guys keep entering, I'll keep running them!

I'm probably gonna not finish.

Unless I get a really good pre-work session in or something, daughter is just plaguing this project lol...

If I an get the parchment scribbles done and hit a few minor details like the eyes he'll be good enough for tabletop, but I was hoping to do some weathering too.
