No, they still haven't figured out yet. That's why they're hiring someone who does.

Surely someone will take a job and put it on the line just for a little trolling.
Also, aren't lawyers completely devoid of humor?

the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills or experience.
So even after the CH case they still want a yes man lawyer rather than somebody that will steer them away from multi-million dollar follies.

So, they need someone to explain the concepts of copyright and trademark to Alan Merrett, the head of intellectual property development at GW?

It could be, but that's actually usually not the case. At least in the US, most organizations hire attorneys based on attributes (personality, acadmeic success, etc) rather than on skills or experience. Most in-house counsel work within a framework created by the upper managment, and they'd rather have somebody that will learn and will fit in than somebody that is an expert.
Once you have an educated, licensed attorney, it really doesn't take that long to teach them what they need to know. And fresh applicants are less likely to have bad habits...

Great legal support, excited by provding legal support?
Sounds like Ned Flanders wrote the job ad. If only he was a lawyer then that would be super didally doodally.
Getting a lawyer that tells you what you want to hear rather than what you need to hear is just outright insane.
Did they learn nothing from the Chapter House episode?

I imagine they're going to stick this lawyer in the a small room with all the miniature creators and he'll approve of designs based on if someone can 'steal' the idea or not.

Jesus Christ, this part still gets me:
"At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. Because of this we believe that what you are like, hence the attitude your show to work and the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills or experience. "
Yeah, cause it's not like skills and experience aren't important in a highly skill-and-experience based field like law.
I work in research and you can better fething believe I hire based on demonstrable skill and experience.
Man what a weird hiring policy.
But I guess hiring based on attitude instead of skills gets you exactly this in job postings:
"attitude your show to work"
Cause screw knowledge of the english language, you know? He had the right attitude....
It's the english language that was wrong!

Unless GW have learnt something from the CHS case, they're looking for an attack dog that's going to be enforcing their IP through threats of legal action. They described in the CHS case that they hold a file of 'evidence' on many competitors they think could be their next targets. GW are still apparently pushing for the 'attitude not skills' approach to recruiting which suggests to me they don't want a lawyer who will give solid, honest advice, they want someone they can tell what to pursue and expect them to somehow form the case.
Any experienced lawyer will dig into GW's recent history to see why they need a new in-house lawyer and alarm bells will go off, GW will have to find someone who is either inexperienced or just doesn't care that it's not good for their career.
