i just picked up a copy of the new run of space hulk.

But when i was packing it all away i found a lack of storage options for the games models and tiles.

I am worried just laying it all in there will cause it to shift around in the box when moving it, to the point where it may break minis.

Does anyone own a copy that has come up with a cheap at home solution for this?
I want to keep it in the original box so foam storage option are out.

I may talk about recasts. doesnt mean i buy recasts.

Wrap the models in tissue?

The only other option is perhaps some foam cut to shape to fit in the box.

Yes. There are a few more cards etc. I have read that sometimes, with the foam insert, the foam sits proud of the box, so the lid wouldn't close all the way down - but of course the miniatures will be secure and safe.

IIRC battlefoam do a version which actually holds the cards etc etc, with a second piece for the figures, or you can simply buy the piece for the figures, linked above, which seems at least as good to me and obviously distinctly cheaper. Battlefoam have distributors in various places - I think I will buy my insert soon, if you need help sending one to Oz let me know...

I placed the models into 3 plastic take away containers with lids. I managed to squeeze everything in, the models are tightly packed together so I wouldn't recommend doing this when they're painted but at least they are protected from the weight of the tiles snapping bits off.

Unpainted plastic miniatures are extrememly durable. A bit of shaking and rattling will do no damage whatsoever. However, crushing forces are a different matter. I wouldn't stack anything on top of the box. Craft stores, sporting good stores, and hardware stores almost always sell small cases in various sizes with secure latches. Just take a couple represenative miniatures with you so you can be sure that you get the correct sized partitions.

36 dollars postage for a 16 dollar product? There must be a better UK option. Anyone?

I use the Battlefoam that fits into the Game box. I also put a foam insert ontop so whilst it does sit proud of the box, becasue the box is stiff and durable, it doesn't make an issue. Yes Battlefoam is expensive, but for me it's worth the money. Fitting all the tiles into the foam tray that sits underneath the mini tray is tricky.

The Battlefoam tray has worked great for me since the previous edition hit. I highly recommend it.
