Can MCs overwatch with both guns?

For example, can a Hive Tyrant overwatch with both TLDWBLW?

Yes. Overwatch uses the same rules as the shooting phase with explicit exceptions. MCs firing two weapons is not one of them.

Monsterous creatures get the ability to fire an extra weapon in the shooting phase. What phase is overwatch in?

How many weapons is a model restricted to firing in the assault phase?
Please quote the rule.

The thing is, you've got two options:

1) You treat overwatch as a mini shooting phase, so MC's can fire two weapons
2) You don't treat overwatch as a mini shooting phase, which means models aren't restricted from firing all their weapons

Overwatch is resolved like a normal shooting attack (albeit one resolved in the enemy's Assault phase)

So we aren't in the shooting phase, instead we are in the assault phase. MC can only shoot one weapon. Same with tau multi-trackers, which only give an extra shot in the shooting phase.

Please don't waste my time.

And when making a normal shooting attack, how many weapons can a monstrous creature fire?

ALL of the shooting rules apply to the shooting phase. If you're using that as the criteria for whether or not to apply those rules to Overwatch, you're not going to be able to fire Overwatch at all.

Not at all. The shooting phase grants you permission to make shooting attacks. Overwatch also does so, albeit outside the shooting phase, and requiring snap shots. During the shooting phase, MCs can fire two guns. Dont overthink it too much.

Sounds like you are wasting our time. Being condescending never turns out well.

Please don't pick and choose rules, always treat rules equally.

If you're going to make a bias argument and ignore the identically written rule from outside the Shooting Phase rules, More Than One Weapon, than you're just wearing your agenda on your sleeve.
MORE THAN ONE WEAPON wrote:Unless otherwise states, if a model has more than one shooting weapon, he must choose which one to shoot - he cannot fire both in the same Shooting phase.

Underlined for emphasis.

Come back when you have some evidence so you don't waste ours.

See, that's the thing... I would say that the argument that the fact that Overwatch says to resolve like a normal shooting attack doesn't actually mean to resolve it like a normal shooting attack is the 'overthinking it' angle.

You apply the rules for the shooting phase to Overwatch, because the shooting phase is where we find the rules for shooting. It's that simple.

Agreed. When a Monstrous Creature makes a normal shooting attack, it fires two weapons. When a Crisis Suit makes a normal shooting attack, it fires two weapons. We're told to make a normal shooting attack, with an acknowledgement that this normal shooting attack isn't happening in the Shooting phase (as a normal shooting attack normally would).

You didn't answer my question and you were quite rude.
Mind trying again without the condescending tone?
