These are
FW plague toads, right? And those things are Core? I assumed they were Special or Rare ...
(Turns out they're core in DoC, special in WoC.) And anyway,
FW is not as widely accepted in Fantasy as it is in
40k. Basically, all the Chaos Dwarf stuff is tourney-legal, and that's it. In friendly games, well that's a different matter. You figure Epi plops with them? Not sure base sizes match up, and regardless pretty sure he's not getting a
LOS! roll (though cannons have plenty to shoot in this list).
Flesh hounds of Khorne with ambush*9-297
(3 units of 3)
Kr0n doges have a min unit size of 5, so grab another for 2x 5 packs?
Beasts of Nurgle*7-420 I saw this used at a local Gt once, if ut doesn't get purple sunned then it will murder anything it touches (minus BotWD), though not sure if 7 is needed or smaller units are better?
Commonly beasts are run 4 + 1 + 1, with the solo beasts acting as chaff and the bigger unit roughing stuff up.
The
DP is indeed hella expensive, particularly for how easily he can be killed. Without a doubt he's the first target for enemy artillery, as it shuts down your magic phase and denies you that purple sun nastiness. You can try to get him some defense with 2x lesser gift (2+ ward, then combat buff after that: breath, multi-wound,
ASF, etc, etc) or greater gift (2+ armor or +1W) + lesser gift, but he's still just a T5 dude with 5+ ward save, and a giant target on him. That said, I wouldn't say don't run him, just be advised that you need to do some work to keep him alive - luckily I think most of the death spells don't need
LoS? So you can hide behind buildings and snipe / hex / sun all you like.
As for the
BT's gifts, all of the lesser gifts are pretty brilliant on him.
ASF, multi-wound, impacts, etc, etc.
Overall I'd recommend plague bearers to give your list extra legality in a variety of settings - the toads you usually see as beast stand-ins, and not really anything else on the Fantasy tabletop.
