Hello! So I have extra capital to spend so instead of adding to my existing Empire I want to make something new, Daemons of Chaos.

So the idea of this list is to be usable for both 40k and Fantasy, I'm just posting this is the Fantasy forum because I figure anyone who plays daemons plays both (whether this is correct or not i'm unsure).

Anyway here it is (please keep in mind I have played against daemons but this is my first time playing AS them).

Lords
Blood thurster + 100pts of gifts-500 Does he need any gifts?

Daemon prince with MoN, lvl4, Flight, daemonic gifts=75 -470 I am concerned about this option, I like a lvl4 with death and very strong, but 470 is a ton of points in one model.

Heroes
Epidemius-200 I am told he is very good for his cost.

Core
Plague toads*21-625 This is my core requirement I know that toads are not as good as bearers but I found some "counts as" models and they are really cool.
(3 units of 7)

Special
Flesh hounds of Khorne with ambush*9-297
(3 units of 3)

Beasts of Nurgle*7-420 I saw this used at a local Gt once, if ut doesn't get purple sunned then it will murder anything it touches (minus BotWD), though not sure if 7 is needed or smaller units are better?

As It stands i'm 12pts over if my math is correct, what do you think? Should I drop the Nurgle prince for a GUO for about the same points? Or just make his cheaper?

As for 40k everything is the same except the toads turn into nurglings, I know they suck but I am determined to make them work!

Thank you for any advice.

These are FW plague toads, right? And those things are Core? I assumed they were Special or Rare ... (Turns out they're core in DoC, special in WoC.) And anyway, FW is not as widely accepted in Fantasy as it is in 40k. Basically, all the Chaos Dwarf stuff is tourney-legal, and that's it. In friendly games, well that's a different matter. You figure Epi plops with them? Not sure base sizes match up, and regardless pretty sure he's not getting a LOS! roll (though cannons have plenty to shoot in this list).

Kr0n doges have a min unit size of 5, so grab another for 2x 5 packs?

Commonly beasts are run 4 + 1 + 1, with the solo beasts acting as chaff and the bigger unit roughing stuff up.

The DP is indeed hella expensive, particularly for how easily he can be killed. Without a doubt he's the first target for enemy artillery, as it shuts down your magic phase and denies you that purple sun nastiness. You can try to get him some defense with 2x lesser gift (2+ ward, then combat buff after that: breath, multi-wound, ASF, etc, etc) or greater gift (2+ armor or +1W) + lesser gift, but he's still just a T5 dude with 5+ ward save, and a giant target on him. That said, I wouldn't say don't run him, just be advised that you need to do some work to keep him alive - luckily I think most of the death spells don't need LoS? So you can hide behind buildings and snipe / hex / sun all you like.

As for the BT's gifts, all of the lesser gifts are pretty brilliant on him. ASF, multi-wound, impacts, etc, etc.

Overall I'd recommend plague bearers to give your list extra legality in a variety of settings - the toads you usually see as beast stand-ins, and not really anything else on the Fantasy tabletop.

Thank you for your response!

As I mentioned above the legality is not a problem as I am using 100% non GW miniatures and will only be using this for games with friends.

My only other idea is dropping the daemon prince and spending the extra points on fatey, he can take the purple sun I crave and basically do everything buy melee better.

As for the Doggies, I misread that, should I just drop them? I Can run the Beasts 5* 1* 1*?

So to recap, drop daemons prince and digs for fatey, and make beasts unit into 5/1/1.

There is another option if you want Purple Sun on a big guy: Great Unclean One. Level 4 w/ lesser gift comes to 505 points, not a far stretch from the DP build but a far sight tougher and hittier. Run as your general means his LD9 buffs up all your Nurgle dudes (which is the majority of your list), and he's also far friendlier than Fatey, who happens to be one of the few special characters habitually banned from even comp-less tournaments. Typically the GUO is run with an exalted gift so he can get the eternal blade and really tear faces off, but I was trying to save you some points, and you've got the BT to blender things.

But if you want the Weaver, no worries.

If you've got the points, maybe keep five ambushers? They're a little thematic to keep in the list as well, like the BT's hounds or something. On the beasts, five (in one rank) will work fine for an anvil / grind unit - any unit starting at 4+ usually qualifies for those duties

Sounds fantastic! As for fatey, I can see why, his power generation is brutal along with his re roll die thing.

Thanks for the help!
