So, I've been hearing some rumors lately and am looking for thoughts/advice on the topic. Firstly there's this:

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/03/40k-tau-empire-latest.html

New Tau Crisis Suit and Commander models. This is confirmed I'm pretty sure? Which is cool. I haven't purchased any suits yet, so I'll put it off until I get a look at the new models. Next there's this:

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/03/40k-rumors-the-next-three-redone-codices-are.html

Apparently the Tau Codex (Space Marines and Eldar Codices also) is slated for an update later this year? These guys (https://www.facebook.com/Lordsofwargaming) are saying so as well. Can anyone tell me how likely it is that the Tau Codex will see an update this year? And, if so, should I hold off on making the major purchase of an army until the new Codex is released? All of my current lists are based off of the current Tau Codex. And, lastly, this:

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/02/40k-rumors-kroot-mercenaries-will-return.html

A Kroot Codex possibly coming in the near future? I wouldn't mind having an AD of Kroot to supplement a Tau or FE army.

What do you guys think about all of this?

No, it's not confirmed, until scans come, don't believe it at all.

It is called a rumour for a reason. Hope it comes true, but don't let yourself believe it will for one second until there is concrete evidence.

Still; it's worth waiting to see if it's true before dropping a couple hundred bucks on minis, right?

Well, you could be hit by a bus in two weeks and never get to play with them period!

If you like 'em, play 'em. I'd only suggest someone hold off if we're so close that we're literally staring at white dwarf spoilers

It seems like the new suit models are at least a for sure thing though.

yeah, the exact post was "you;ll see a space marines codex before you see plastic Horus Heresy" which I Interpreted as a "guys the HH starter box rumors are BS. they're not happening any time soon" however some rumor sites rather then report "look this was wishlisting and we fell for it" concluded "SPACE MARINES SOON!"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

That's just disappointing. Not so much about SM since that's not really my department, but hey, still sucks.

it's possiable we'll see a new wave of minis for em. Tau and Space Marines are both very popular armies right now

About a new tau codex yes. But a separate source provided the rumors on new crisis suits.

Assuming any truth to the rumours, I would just buy the basics for Tau. Pathfinder just got an update so they'll be the same, firewarriors might get an update (i simultaneously want and don't want this).

i think you're safe with the following options:
Ethereal
Pathfinders
Kroot
Firewarriors (you need lots anyway)
Stealth tream
Broadside
Riptide
Tanks (all of them)

Where i think there might be issues is outdated stuff:
Firewarriors (ish)
Snipe Drones
Crisis suits
Vespid
Finecast anything

If you're going to buy Tau stick to core things or things that got an update.
Firewarriors might get an update but it's not like they don't look fine now.
I normally would recommend the battleforce, but it contains crisis suits.

I think the Kroot Codex has been reported from several sources so it's pretty reliable IMO.

The new Tau codex rumors come from a single source AFAIK,Bso I won't put too much stock in them until more sources come up, and new model rumirs at this point seem to he little more than people putting 'Tau might get a new codex' and 'many Tau models are rather old' together.

Of course, all of that is just my personal opinion

It looks like the majority of my list is safe to buy ASAP. Sweet.

I don't believe in the tau codex being redone, but in a shield of baal thing with lots of formations.

the models, on the other hand, I do fully believe they'll be changed.

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

The most believable rumors suggest a campaign box of SM vs Tau around the end of the summer.

There are rumors of redone suits. It could just be a special character sprue, but I'd lean towards a whole new kit, from what I've read. That would, in no way, invalidate the current box. And the rules are unlikely to change, although formations seem likely. So suits you get today will be just as valid.

The Tau Empire is constantly improving. So you would regularly see 2+ versions of Crisis Suits in a force. I'd think you'd want some of the current version even if there will be a new version.

Its easy to stick with the 'get a battlebox' recommendation. It will all remain valid, and variety of sprues/crisis suits would be awesome.

As for Kroot, while I'm hopeful, remember that the just-released Harlequin models were made a long time ago.

TLR - don't hold off on account of these rumors. Probably not this year.

(I really hope they go the SM Tac box route - can't hate on those options!)
