Just wanted the communities general opinion on the cost of Broadsides in real $. The price of $50 for 1 single kit with two small sprues seems ridiculous. Add in the fact that the in-game points cost is only base 65 (70 with upgrade usually) and that it is almost an auto-include in army lists seems evil on GW part.

It does seem a bit expensive (in both senses), but the FBSC seems like an amazing asset to any Tau list. However, building a FBSC from scratch would get even more expensive if you don't have the models for it.

This is why I only had 2 broadsides when I was still in tau. Things just cost ridiculous amount.

OP, I avoided buying them for that very reason - I couldn't justify spending that much on each individual model.

If I regularly got a lot of games of WH40K in I'd be more tempted to consider it, but I don't, so the value isn't great from my point of view.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Bro.

As an ork player.

Let me talk to you about...Mek Gunz.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I already had two XV-88 broadsides from the old days before the new kit showed up, but given how COOL the model wielding the heavy rail rifle looked, I just HAD to go out and buy it.

Dont really regret it either, as he makes for a nice Shas'ui team leader for my trip-side squad now, and the suit is also quite a bit bigger and bulkier than the XV-8 chassis the old broadsides were based on.

However... however however however, I have to say that the new model is really just a monopose guy so for a new kit I am disappointed how there's even less posability than the old kits had.

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

I'd compare the broadside kits price to the sternguard veterans price. They're both 2 small sprue kits. The difference is the vets get you 1/2 a squad (which is fieldable as-is), while the broadside gets you 1/3'd a squad (which you really want 3 to maximize support spent on them)

The pricing from GW is all over the place. As far as I can tell it is sometimes based on the amount of plastic, other times on points value (which seems silly) and then other times just what they can get away with because you want them in your army.

It's why I don't have any Plague Marines... 60ish $ for 7 marines with very very little options? Nah... I'll make my own eventually or find them in the swap shop!

Ok, Im glad Im not the only one who feels this way. When I build my army lists, I like to make them cost effective in terms of points:$. Certain tau units are pretty good (Riptide is almost 3:1 ratio), while Broadsides are barely over 1:1 :(

As a plus, I think the old ones are a bit smaller too.
