This is a great excuse for me to finally paint this model, it has been in this state for almost a year now!

Consider me entered!

Man! I still haven't gotten my before pic posted and some of you are like halfway done!!

I'm posting pics today though. It is on my to do list.

I can't decide between the Solitaire and the Shadowseer. I'm going to post pics of both of them and do what I can to get them both done.

My friends and I decided that they next things I painted would be inspired by the anime RWBY.

I know the Solitaire with have the black and red of Ruby. I haven't figured a way that makes sense for the rest of the army.

I also want to have a mask color that ties the whole army together and I haven't figured that out yet either.

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...

I agree, that is some awesome work.

The competition seems to be flying this month, I'm way behind having not even basecoated.

Laid down two washes and basecoated some extra areas. Man, those washes made such a difference!

Spoiler:

My main problem with Terminators = highlighting those sticky-outie leg bits. Too thick to edge, too thin to layer!

I havent even been able to work on my SM Command Squad much today. Stupid virus on my computer is trying to wipe all my files out so Ive been trying to fix this stupid thing. Almost a year and 3 Terrabytes of stuff simply gone... Came in and it was just deleting things on its own. Plus my Pay Pal was hacked not once but TWICE in 2 days. Been a bad run of luck for this ole boy for sure.

Just a quick progress update: Got some of the base colors down on my Deathwing Knights, but they're not ready for a photo op yet! Once I finish the base colors I will shoot some pics for you guys. I will mention that I am finally doing what most of you would consider basic: thinning my paints and painting multiple coats instead of trying to get it done with a single coat of paint. It is making a huge difference already, the bone white deathwing armor turned out awesome! More updates to come, so stay tuned!

P.S. I love what I'm seeing from all of you so far, awesome looking stuff!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I have a question guys. Im working on the SM Command Squad for this contest and all of the weapons have handles on them and all of the arms that are supposed to hold them have the fist clenched. My question is this: Do I cut the handles off of the weapons and glue them to the hand? I just want to make sure here so I dont ruin my model.

I think that is the only option; it ends up looking ok in the end.

yup. carefully take a sharp craft knife and cut back under the body of the gun so the handle comes off then use plastic cement to glue on. think they made it like that so you could glue the gun maglocked to his backpack instead if you wanted to

That is really cool (and I don't say that just because my entry is an almost-true scale Chaos Lord as well! ). Any ideas on colour scheme yet?

oohhh - just thought of a possible theme for the vote for next month's comp. Too early? nah!! Gonna pop it here while I remember. 'Faster, faster....GO FASTER!!!' Speed theme - anything that shows speed and the wish to go faster!!! Could be bikes, ork on a rocket, grot being chased by a giant squig etc etc. Anyways there m'suggestion. Back to the Solitaire

Glad to see everyone is still pushing ahead.

I like your almost finished entry, para. That blood... So good

As for my entry, I think I might change it from my BSB, to some Terminators I found in the closet. Not only do I want to paint something towards my Imperial Fists, but the BSB hand/arm keeps popping off :( I've had to repair it twice in the past few days...

Ok, new entry:

Well, my opponents usually don't have more than 1-2 Wave Serpents 'cos Serpent spam is very expensive in real life money.

Awesome idea. I second the motion for GO FASTER! I've got some Ravenwing bikes and a Nephilim fighter to paint.

Haven't done much for my entry yet, did a quick colour test on a test SM:

Spoiler:

I'll have to train my squiggly line painting skills a bit, but I think I should be able to pull off a reasonable job on the Termie
Got my bits orders in today too, which contained a couple more mutant arms and the like.... maybe my Slaaneshi Terminator won't be alone for too long

Also, seeing the other entries in the competition, I have a sinking feeling I won't be getting any votes this time around either
