I was considering running a squad of BA devastators armed with 4 heavy flamers and a powerfist sgt. I figure they would drop pod in and murderize something and still be pretty effective if they get the chance to charge. Has anyone tried this? If so, how did it go?

Sounds effective but I'd drop the PF, these guys will probably get shot up pretty quickly and a single PF isn't going to make much difference.

This sounds fun. Especially against assault heavy areas of the board as eating all that overwatch won't be easy. A combi-flamer on the Sgt would save you some points and add to the burninating.

You could always invite some SoB over for a mixer. They can field 4 HFs in a retrlbtator squad. And I’m guessing wouldn’t mind a ride in a drop pod...

Ally in sister of battle and take a BA drop pod as fast attack.
You can get 4 heavy flamers into a drop pod, and have cypher be the HQ choice to give a BA squad hit and run and shrouded.
100 points for 4 heavy flamers is pretty cheap...

Or you could use Purgation squads with 4 incinerators in pods. Might get some use out of them then

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

It actually hits really hard, all things considered. They end up being fire magnets at the same time, so it keeps the more expensive units safe.

That's pretty awesome. 130 points for 4 S6 soul blazing templates, and you get a psyker to boot.
