Guest artist minis are rarely (possibly never) based upon anyone in particular.

I guess they have a certain Conan-esque charm, but I don't like paolo so that might color my judgement. And yes, i wanted to know the "inspiration" for the kid!

Edit: oh

As Alex said the stretch goal guest artist characters are all original designs, where as the paid addon guest artist boxes have all been based on existing properties owned by the artist.

I have ever Z1, 2 and 3 character plus game night promos but not feeling the completionist urge this time around mostly because I am not taken by the Pablo or Brutal guest boxes (the Thudd one I appreciate but not enough to pick up). That's a good thing though as gives me an excuse to skip B*Sieged which the completionist in me was forcing me to pick up (although would be nice to have an Orc character...).

I know that I've seen two of those Paolo Parente minis before (troll and woman with double blade), but I can't remember where.

Were they previously released by CMON at some point?

Using an existing miniature sculpt is a first for Zombicide.

Good news for those that wanted a resin version, I guess.

I think it's weak to bring in already existing figures to this gaming system. I'd bought into it if they'd made them different in some way. But this, no, not for me.

Rum and Bones was built entirely around this concept and it sold well.

Surprised it took so long for them to do it again to be honest.

I'm still trying to figure out why people are asking where these guest artists' original designs are coming from...

That said, yes, Paolo continues to be Paolo for his women, but I'm actually very impressed by the other two models on show.

I recognize the images of some of the other sculpts. Not-Ash, not-bad-ash,not Merlin and so on, I figure this is based off of some character as well. I might be wrong as this is my first Zombicide foray, but aren't the single figures usually based on an actor, actress or character from some book series? I thought the four fig boxes were unique.

The Kickstarter exclusive figures are inspired by characters from TV / Movies.

Apprentice Milo is different as he is a guest survivor designed by the artist Naïade so it's an original design and will be available in a box set with 3 other figures at retail.

It states quite clearly that it's a guest artist mini, therefore likely an original character.

I really hope that they give an option for just the Murder of Crowz cards, as I don't feel the need to buy an entire box when I already own the crowz...

I'm liking the Naiade characters so far, but would really like to see some more fantasy races, not more homages. I'm liking the base characters the best over the SG characters, want some armored zombies!

@aeneades, thanks, that's the explanation I needed.

I was getting caught up on the individual figures and the guest artist figs looked familiar to me, but couldn't place them....for now obvious reasons. A few have hints of characters that I thought were figures from movies I had missed.

I wonder if we will get a mustache pack this time around. If we do then it had better contain a not Inigo Montoya!

Oddly Paolo's are the first guest box I've considered buying. I really like most of the sculpts they showed.

My first impression of Apprentice Milo was that he was an homage to Mickey Mouse's Apprentice character from Fantasia. Floppy hat, big gloves and of course the title "apprentice" are what led me to that conclusion. They do look nothing alike though, so I could be way off.

@dark traveller777, that's exactly what I was missing. I had the image in my head, but kept looking at the face and thinking it was all wrong. I was looking human and should have been considering that rat.

Funny, I've collected the majority of add-ons from previous KS but this time round I'm only in for the Early Bird and the NPC 2 box. The rest of the add-ons just don't look as good or appeal to me at all.

I can appreciate why the guest artists have been brought in, but overall I don't think their style really meshes with what CMON have been adding as the stretch goals.

Would also like them to add a deck of Crowz spawn cards as a paid add-on for those of us who got them previously.

You don't want the grey-IP hitting retail. CMON isn't paying movie companies for the likenesses of their characters, and the higher the visibility (ie. retail vs. non-retail exclusive), the more likely a letter drafted by a lawyer. Artists come up with their own original ideas (sometimes) so guest boxes can be better used to promote an artist's franchise, and avoid any legal problems.

This isn't the first time I've seen a company move away from grey-IP to their own IP. A Spanish game company used to use Hasbro's IP for their family games, and now puts out their own games. Crunchyroll, an anime streaming site, now has licensing arrangements with anime companies, rather than stream without explicit permission (or something like that). The success of Z:BP shows that CMON doesn't need other people's IP to sell its products (well, almost!).

Like all Abominations, the Ablobination requires a Damage 3 weapon (or Dragon Fire) to kill, it grants 5 XP when killed, and its attacks cannot be blocked by Armor rolls.

Sure, the Ablobination is massive and very tough to kill, but what really sets it apart is its freakishly huge and powerful arm, and the surprising ferocity with which it flails it about, creating a swath of destruction around it! Whenever the Ablobination activates with Line Of Sight to any Survivors at Range 0-1. It will perform an Attack against ALL Zones at Range 0-1 to which it has Line of Sight. That means its own Zone, and any open Zones connected to it! Obstacles preventing Movement between Zones (such as tower ramparts) do manage to block the Ablobination's attack.

Looks like he's about the size of the Abominotaur by the base size although not as tall - Jason has yet to add it to his blog but he'll probably have a scale shot when he does.

I'm still hoping for a Boomstick shotgun and/or chain saw rotating toothed blade contraption for Troy!
