It looks so good. I just started with 40k, but I want to buy it just so that I can paint it up.

Really looks like it could be the predecessor of the defiler.

Gets a thumbs up for me.

It's an Imperial Defiler, and I love it!

I might have to pick this up when it arrives at my local store (even though I'm a CSM).

As I see it, the design not only makes no sense (pointy legs in a tons-heavy vehicle suposed to walk on sand?), but also looks clumsy and ugly as hell.

I'm willing to let some things pass, like most Imperial Guard's outdated vehicles, but this is 2014 for feth's sake. At this stage, can't GW come up with a better design than sticking a Sentinel's cabin on top of some Defiler's legs?

Progress is like a herd of pigs: everybody is interested in the produced benefits, but nobody wants to deal with all the resulting gak.

GW customers deserve every bit of outrageous princing they get.

I like the new Ad Mech stuff. The Dunecrawler is a decent miniature.

I like the version without the limbs, just dual headlights seems a bit neater and cleaner.

It's based on a crab, which does walk through sand on pointed limbs.

Isn't the prices on these new models kind of steep?

I like it. not a huge fan of the turret, but I think a bit of conversion up to a bigger gun and some ammo feeds would go a long way.

LOVE the Dragoon and the strider models. I will probably try to fit these into my collection.

On moon miranda.

It looks like the product of an unnatural mating between an Armored Sentinel and a Defiler.

Not a bad mini, but that's all I can think of when I look at it.

The legs are kinda weird though, *very* Warmachine-ish.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I showed my wife the WD a couple of days ago, and she thought it looked like the crab we had on Easter

The aesthetic I'd very different from standard GW fare. Not my favorite, but points for originality, and obviously appealing to some!

Reminds me of playing AT-43 with it's 4-leg walkers, especially the Dotch Yaga of the Red Blok faction.

It looks... well, nice. Not as ugly as I expected, but still a bit off. It definitely says "Imperial" and "Mars" to me, it's just the "Adeptus Mechanicus" part which I find a bit lacking.

The rear end of the vehicle is oddly my favorite part. Curious how it shares some design features with none other than the Chaos Decimator.

Sigh... yes. Having just cleared my 40k backlog, I was dreaming of getting an infantry force backed by a trio of Onagers. I had ruled out the Dragoons as, though I love the miniatures, the price for a full squad plus all the other stuff is way above my purchasing power at the moment. However the holidays have taken quite a toll on my wallet and those tanks are pricey, so I'll have to space out my purchases. It'll be just the codex and two skitarii boxes for now.

I've been kit-bashing two of these into Onagar, and in person the comparison is even more striking. Its a valid, 90% proxy right out of the box, though Dotch Yaga's base is just a bit too large. Rebasing onto 100mm circle-base is easy, albeit with a bit of foot-overhang. :-p

Check, its 2015 I kind of agreed with you on the pointy-leg thing, but after looking at some more of the pictures, they actually DO have alternate feet that are flat, and can be either used or "flipped up" along the legs. Now I just have to think of how to Chaos-ify them for the Dark Mechanicus!

Not all vehicles were made for all terrain. You wouldn't deploy this kind of walker in the desert, though maybe it was made for city/ruin battles....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And I am sure the AdMech wouldn't make a tank that is clumsy, and they aren't known for caring much about aesthetics. That is looking at it from a fluff perspective.

It's called the "Dunecrawler".

Looking at it from a fluff perspective, I'm sure the AdMech would be able to come up with something better than a Sentinel's "head" over some Defiler legs.

If the kit truly provides more logical alternative feet, I'd go with those without a doubt.

except the defiler had to come from somewhere. I think it's obvious from a fluff POV the defiler started out as a dune crawler. and complaining about a visual resembalance to the sentinal is silly. they're both designs produced by the IoM. some simlarties arent unreasonably.

Keep in mind that the sentinal similarity breaks down once you see a side view of the dunecrawler as well. the cabin is considerably elgongated.

If I didn't occasionally play at a GW, I would just buy 2 Dotch yaga's and be done with it because I love the model. I already have one because I love the model. I just don't know if I could justify it because I wouldn't be able to use it at a GW I sometimes go to to play.

I'm a big fan of all the AdMech releases so far, especially the Dunecrawler. Looking forward to buying a couple of these bad boys.
