Same. Bought a midrange Alienware setup two years ago, runs amazingly well.

Just rode into my first electro-tornado-sandstorm. Damn it felt like I was in that scene in the movie... Loving this game so far, and I'm just tooling around, gathering scrap for the first stronghold you get to. Tons of fun.

Honestly, my only gripe is the climbing mechanic... I've already died a few times, or severely wounded myself, because I'm holding the climb button, but the playstation says, "nah, you weren't pushing the button mate, so keep on runnin"

For those on the fence, Steam has a bundle for $106+ tax that includes the game and digital copies of every Mad Max movie (including Fury Road). At the average cost of $20 for a DVD, that's 5 movies plus a triple-A game title for like $15.

I wish there was more gunplay, the shotgun is getting old. I get that they are trying to simulate how scarce ammo is, but just a few more options would've been nice.

Not from work, but should be on the Steam Store page for the game. Click on that and it will bring you to the store page for Mad Max specifically, should be included in one of the bundle options (where one normally finds Season Passes, Collector's Edition and similar versions).

Not me! More gunplay would certainly spoil the atmosphere. Honestly, it feels like the shotgun is only there to factor in to melee combos (as per Talion's throwing knives in Shadow of Mordor) and allow you to shoot at vulnerable spots on enemy cars while driving.

Really? I can see it on the UK site and add it to my cart. However I don't really see the point. I'd rather just buy the films on DVD for less (the first three come in a boxset for like £10 out of HMV), which I already have bar Fury Road, and as far as the game itself goes, that's what Steam sales are for.

The first three are going on bluray for under 30 USD on Amazon. There's no point getting Fury Road until October, when they release the special edition. The game is good enough to by for its own sake.

On an unrelated note, and totally not just to excuse just posting that windup .gif, I picked up the Mad Max comics today. It'd be interesting to see how much those tie in with the game. In general they make the timeline much more concise though and pull together events a bit more (as well as covering weirdness not explained in the films). Saying that then if they were bundled with the game or that collection or Steam I'd think that'd be great for people going into the series with little experience of it.

Yeah this really was just a dud post.

So far I'm digging the game. Has a mix of elements from batman arkham and red dead redemption, both of which I like. About 3 hours in so far and been enjoying it quite a bit. I normally steer well clear of movie franchise games but mad max seems to be one of the few that don't disappoint.

Best Buy and Amazon both have the anthology(all four movies) for $49.99 USD right now versus the normal price of $79.99.

Just a heads up.

The comics tie into the movie in varying degrees. The Nux comic is mostly a quick and fast history of his character, the Joe comics are an awesome history of how he got where he is now, alongside Major Kalashnikov (Bullet Farmer) and a fatty (People Eater), there's also a comic on the brides which leads up to the movie itself, which is rather.. unsettling. And then there's a two-parter on Max, which is also a direct lead into either the game or the movie, but at least it explains the little girl you keep seeing in the movie.

What's the deal with the People Eater in the comics?

In Fury Road, he's the mayor of Gastown.

In the game, we learn someone called Dr Dementus ran Gastown until he tried to besiege the Citadel, whereupon he was killed and Scabrous Scrotus took control of Gastown on behalf of his father, Immortan Joe.

Got Threat Levels down to 1 or 0 in Gutgash and Jeets Territories. Have Max fully upgraded and the car as far as I can get it upgraded until I get up north. Just got the Thunderpoon (great name) and I'm heading out to tear down The Jaw! Having a blast with this game. Its like GTA without cops.

"It's like GTA without cops." Is without a doubt the best description I've heard yet for this game. LOL Soooooo true!!

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

This does sound awesome! Glad to hear it is getting some good feedback.

Have to question the logic though of the publishers releasing the game at the same time as the new MGS (here in the UK at least). These kind of games take a lot of time to play, I won't have time to play both so making me choose between the both of them for the time being.

I would suppose that they are releasing these games now in September, so that they aren't even attempting to compete with SW: Battlefront, and whatever COD/BF/Halo crap-fest is released around that "Christmas Block".... I know I'm getting rather excited for SW Battlefront myself.

I think the People Eater was always over at Gastown as an accountant of sorts, but officially took over after Scrotus met his end at Max's hands (speculation on my part, but it looks like this is what the game is going for), seeing as Joe's other two sons aren't exactly leadership material, one being a child in a man's body, the other being a man in a child's body. No need to worry about the Bullet Farm's loyalty though, the Bullet Farmer has been Joe's most trusted ally ever since the Oil and Water Wars, they even assaulted the Citadel together when its original owners refused to budge.

He's in a few parts of the Joe comic, where they rescue him from a few rogue MFP officers and he tags along as something of an accountant / quartermaster IIRC. Other than that, he makes a brief cameo in the first of the Max two-parter where he runs a Thunderdome of his own for a V8 engine block.

Decided to give it a go.

This game is amazing.

Well, I beat it! I liked it, but it kind of got repetitive in the last half of the game. Some minor complaints in an otherwise excellent game:

(Minor Spoilers)

Spoiler:

- I still maintain that more gunplay would've been a welcome variation to fist fighting your way through every outpost/camp.
-Essentially every single boss fight is the same.
-There were times where I had to downgrade my car to complete a quest, such as one of Crow Dazzles quests that forces you to down grade Magnum Opus, and then shortly afterward, my car was too hardcore to run the race against Stank Gum. Had a mean machine almost fully upgraded and struggled. Went barebones and got it first try. That bugged the gak out of me.
-There were also a few upgrades that I got out of the linear order, which was fine, but it just seemed off. One of the skipped upgrades is a required upgrade that I mentioned above, forcing you to buy something you'll only use one time.
-Underground driving quests suck. Admittedly, there aren't many, but there is a great, massive open world and these quests force you in one direction. And again, are made more of a hassle if you have a well upgraded machine that can be too fast for the rails these quest put you on.
-Enemy patrols don't seem to scale, just get heavier armor, which means nothing when a fully upgraded shotgun blast can take off an entire wheel, thus ending that cars threat.
-Repetition... I cleared the first and second stronghold zones completely of threats. Got to the wheelchair lady and the burnt man, and said feth it..

That was more than I planned to write, and admittedly seems somewhat nitpicky. With all that said, I loved this game from start to the bitter end.
