I've recently started playing 40k again, and I figured, this would be a great way to get my whole collection on the table - something like 5k points with a few recent additions!

Don't care about being 'competitive' and what not, just wondering which army or which collection of units would best represent Infinity armies on the tabletop. The army itself would be a mishmash of every faction I own, justified by being set a few decades in the future after the EI inevitably enslaves all humans and then finds out "oh gak, theres a whole galaxy of crazy humans and orks and stuff thats coming to get me!"

Right now I'm thinking Eldar. I don't have access to the latest dex but last edition Wraithlords would make for some more than adequate TAGs. Tau would be the other forerunner, but sadly they don't have an appropriate entry for TAGs themselves. Maybe pig-disgusting Taudar would be the answer? Perhaps even go full slow unbound and use Space Marines for heavy infantry...

God, never thought I'd think of playing Tau+Eldar. They're my two least favourite factions in the setting lol

I'd go Aspect-heavy Eldar, possibly Necrons, possibly Tau (TAGs could be Crisis Suits reasonably enough).

Rick Priestly must be spinning in his grave

Have I got this the right way around - do you want to use Infinity models with 40k game mechanics, or visa-versa?

I've already tried 40k models in Infinity, which has potential to be pretty interesting. Now I'm doing the other way around just for gaks and giggles

And yes I'm well aware that 40k is gak lol. But I've yet to find an Infinity format that lets me put all eight of my TAGs on the table at once

Double-scale Infinity. Play with bigger terrain and use rules for regular infantry for the TAG models.

There was the Iron Fists scenario for N2. That should be pretty easy to adapt (if it needs any adaptation).
I don't think you'll quite get to 8 TAGs, but it gets you close.

TAGS are Crisis suits essentially.....

I can't really see them functioning as anything else. If you hate Tau maybe you should join the Farsigh enclaves and make a cool farsight bomb :p

Crisis suits are far too small IMO. When you take a unit thats 90pts in a 300pt game and it becomes 22pts in a 1850pt game you know you've probably got the scale wrong!

Still think that Wraithlords would make the best TAGs. A real pity that all the Tau stuff is either too large, too small, or too static, because if they had a correctly sized one it would be very appropriate

Wondering now about infantry and heavy infantry? I've got no problem playing unbound with this monstrosity, so it can be Tau Firewarriors or Space Marines or whatever best suits

XV9s, then? Intermediate weight class battlesuit?

If they can move and shoot somehow then they're a solid option. However from what I know of them they are very static, whereas TAGs are extremely mobile
