I realise that this is the year in which we got a Harlequin Codex and not one but two Adeptus Mechanicus books... but still I just can't believe these rumours.

It's weird isn't it. Go back, what, two years, and Knights, Ad Mech, Harlequins all sound insane.
This one doesn't seem right though somehow. All the kits described sound a bit too generic. Fingers crossed that it's true in some sense or another.

I just hope they do it right. It's pretty simple, but I can see them screwing up.

Just have rules for hybrids, magus', patriarch, purestrains & broodlords (already written), pick one of a few set factions that would work within the fluff, and let the datachment take one of them as battle brothers.

I'm just afraid they'll make it so we can only work with IG. I have my cult, I just need rules for it.

It really is hard to believe, isn't it?

As a digital only book for Genestealer Cults, with step by step guides to converting things up--I could believe it.
But a whole model range for them? It just seems beyond belief.

I personally prefer the "Board Game" hypothesis. I don't believe the "NEW ARMY" thing.
I just report the rumor. I don't believe about half the stuff I post, but they do have a tendency to come true

If Hastings says that something's coming, I tend to believe it.

But even if true, there are a lot of possibilities regarding the scope. We could get four kits and a codex. Or we could get the Cryptus BL and some Purestrain sprues thrown into the box of this rumored new game as serve as the xenos force. Although that seems like a cut & paste job from SH in terms of adversaries.

Anything is possible, especially these days.

Remember the rumor about Genestealers not being included in the next Codex: Tyranids? (Was that "Whisperer of Truth"?) I really don't think that will happen. HOWEVER, I can see GW-style logic in carving out Purestrains into a separate "GCult" book. Obviously it'd sell more books, but it'd also allow them to sell whatever Genestealer kits are involved to more players in the form of BB/AoC, while keeping Tyranids proper as CTA. It's plausible, if improbable.

Since they haven't been mentioned yet now's a good time to bring it up... to think Genestealer Cults would get official model support before SoB is kind of odd. Especially since this stuff really can't be used for another army or something. Perhaps if the human rabble could double as CSM cultists or something? Seems like an odd thing to make.

don't cults show up BEFORE the tyranids do? I thought it was their mental/psychic call that drew them. If so how do they have tyranid bits for armor? It's not like the imperial guard is going to let soldiers bring home bits of xeno as souviners, especially when it's biological in nature.

Stealer Hybrids most likely.
Stealers usually infiltrate and impregnate prior to an invasion, hence the rise of cults and hence the Tyranid bits.

"Minor tyranid bits here and there as armor" could refer to a lot of things.
If could be bits of Stealer carapace. It could be bits of armor similar to the armored exoskeletons on OOP Hybrid models.

I really hope for an army, it would actually spend money to build an army but disregard a "board game" as other dedicated companies would have better board games that my group would actually WANT to play.

As someone said above if you told someone a year and change ago harlies or AM would be armies they would think you it was a pipe dream. Now im not so sure its not a far step for them to bring in line "allies" for tyranids even though fluff wise is kind of grey area.

Man a deathwatch kit, or just a really nice sprue set, would be something I would buy. I just hope its not too terribly expensive.

As much as the codex craziness has been, I would definitely say yes to a cool and usable Deathwatch codex.

Yup. The cults tend to begin infiltrating the PDF and upper societal echelons. IIRC, the Nid codex mentions entire worlds that have fallen to the Tyranids without a single shot fired. The cults literally line up and walk into the digestive pools.

In reference to a Deathwatch vs. Geanstealer Cult box Is it possible this is a "Starter" box for a new Kill Teams release

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Genestealer Cult will be a no-brainer for me.

I added the few original ones i have to my to my Tyranid army a couple of years ago because i lost hope...

I hope this army will become something where the Genestealer Cult is the core army that can ally with both Tyranids (or Genestealers only) and Imperial Guard.

The new GW scenery, the pipes, could even be a prequel to the Genestealer Cult.
They quite literally start underground and only 3rd and 4th generation hybrids go above ground, they look like the race they infiltrate.

In a battle they quite literally can come from hiding underground.
In any case i expect an army where infiltration is the basic concept, even infiltration in the other army.

That would be radical! Also in keeping with GW spreading the special rules around. (Looking at you callidus assassin). I hope they do the Genestealer cult justice.

Hi, you're new (ish) here, so just so you know, bumping a month dormant thread without any new info is not going to go down well with certain posters (ie those who are desperate for news who may well open the thread expecting it and be disappointed.)

Normally resurrecting a thread this old will get it locked, but hopefully the Mods will let it sink down again until there's real new info (should there be any.)

We find comfort among those who agree with us - growth among those who don't. - Frank Howard Clark
