Warhams you Schlingel. Ok missed it, sorry. Of course it doesn't mean DA are impossible next week but according to the hints it seem unlikely.

We do not forgive - but you repented with words and deeds and you shall be safe for now

Actually I think we now have solved the 'excess of release week'-puzzle. DA Codex Preorder at June 27th, DA character model and some unknown stuff on the 20th (?), 'til WFB9 preorder in July.

Edit: @Warboss Yes that Hall of Heroes could be meant

Five points to change a bolt pistol or chainsword on Vanguard Vets to a Power Weapon or Lightning Claw? Neat!

Also, Scouts with WS/BS4, oh my.

Woops, wrong thread. Anyways, we can probably expect the latter for DA as well!

I am really hoping that DA veterans get the cheap war gear treatment! I love those models but they are so underwhelming on the table.

I have this weekends issue in hand and the teaser in the painting article says "Dark, but not black"

The teaser in the back cover doesn't hint at anything exciting, just:

Yup. Part of their ruined buildings kit. I have chopped off the exact same skull pieces myself to use on tanks.

@Kavish: I've often wondered that myself. There's a Rhino in the current codex with bitz on like that.

@Sicksix: Cheers for that- never noticed before!!

Yes. They're Dark Angels but they're armour is not black.

I hope we can still buy THSS upgrades piecemeal like we used to. Otherwise it is an expensive unit to wait for shots to come in for a full turn.

Fluff wise, would it be verboten to field a few scouts to babysit objectives in the backfield?

I'm not sure if this release will bring me back to 40k or not...I'm leaning towards not...BUT, I love my scouts, and if they are getting a WS/BS bump to 4 AND if we finally get the scout transport speeder, I MIGHT relent....come on, the chapter with an all Bike/Speeder company doesn't have a few LS Storms laying around?

DA Scouts in the backfield are not against the fluff. And with BS4 they could work as reliable backfield snipers as well. LS Storms are battle-brothers with DA, just use them as allies or with a 2nd detachment. I guess the exclusion is just to make each book 'special'.

Nearly fully confirmed grav means Grav ravenwing.

Mmm Grav ravenwing with twin linked Plasma, or will they limit or nix such a beautiful load out.

BoLS has webstore quirks in it's latest article that screen grabbed Vanilla Marine scouts and other kits appearing in Dark Angels tab. http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/06/40k-dark-angels-ho.html

But No Tac squad. Either allowing you to build a DA force with all the required kits, including upgrade sprue, or holding out on a possible DA Tac Squad. Considering scouts are universal-ish, adding them, but not tacs leaves "All you DA needs" as a update a little hollow. So DA tacs, although no source has ever indicated a possibility, could be showing up.

I can't wait to read about possible formations.

So far Vanilla rumours are not as buffed by formations in Bike Love as other toys. White Scars and DA Ravenwing need some bike mayhem and firepower.

I don't think he was, I know I wasn't, arguing that a chapter tactic would be all it takes. A chapter tactic, the characters, a few bits of wargear, and something like 7 unit entries would be what an expansion need would to cover DA vs. regular marines. Easily the size of one of those 20-ish page expansions they did in 3rd.

Actually, Dark Angels Tactical Squad was found by Atia on B&C as a viable redirect link a week or so ago. Those redirects have turned out as pretty solid predictors of future kits, though they don't indicate an exact timeframe. Anyways, it's been mentioned as a possibility before but mostly forgotten in the Codex Space Marines excitement.

Yea whisperer of truth or whoever posts on here randomly and has said that a DA tac box has been made but had no idea on the timeframe.

Ok, call me dense.

Now that that's out of the way... I'm looking at my DA codex and I see my Deathwing Squad entry as 220 pts. Were they really 20 pts more expensive than vanilla terminators... for twin-linked storm-bolters?

I never bought the 6th Ed SM codex, so that's why I'm asking. Because otherwise it is much more than a 5ppm break.

DA termies are Fearless, have split fire and reroll misses after deep strike. They also were able to mix close combat weapons in their squads. I don't have the SM codex, but I believe those are the main differences.

Yes, DA termies are far more versatile than Vanilla termies. But hopefully Deathwing will see a small price reduction as well.
