So quick question. Are you allowed to field a formation more than once? or just one of each formations?

There is no rule forbidding multiples of any kind of Detachment (Formations are just a special kind of Detachment). The only thing in the rulebook that may prevent you from taking multiples of a Formation is if it requires a Unique model.
That being said, its not uncommon for tournaments, etc. to prevent you from taking multiples of a Formation, but its only a house rule.

You can field it more than once as long as it contains no unique models, like special characters Ninja'd

In the core game with all rules allowed? Yeah. Go nuts.
In tournaments? Depends on the tourney rules.

Little bit of a bump, but what would you fine folks say is the average ruling in this regard - duplicate formations yay, duplicate formations nay? (in tournaments/flgs around the world)
I notice the ITC is a nay, but I'm not likely to be in the US anytime soon.

I've never played in a tourney where formations were allowed at all. Although it's a house rule with no RAW support, I'd imagine it to be fairly common.

I;ve never seen a tournament they banned fomrations. I don't know why you think banning what is now a core part of the game to be fairly common,

One of my local stores has an upcoming tournament. Format - a single CAD. Can't field a CAD? Can't run the army.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yeah, great idea. Alienate people who've purchased models in your store and tell them, "I know you bought models here, but the army you picked isn't backwards compatible with previous versions of the game that you may or may not be familiar with". Fantastic way to keep new customers coming back.

The local gw has tournaments that do, and tournaments that dont.
The 750 point ones have a specific storebrew detachment that is very limited.
Ive not heard of any large point tournaments (at gw or flgs) that ban formations. Maybe apoc formations, but thats reasonable.
I can say that in a lot of them, you are restricted to one of each

Doesn't ITC generally restrict it to a CAD + allied?

Nope, they just don't allow duplicate detachments with the exclusion of demi company. You can take two demi companies to form the other thing that apparently is some how its own formation even though it has no slate.

Battle co. And it has no slate because it is just 2 demicompanies in a single gladius and is part of the benefits for taking a gladius.
So it is: 1 gladius with 2 demis equals 1 battle company.
2 gladius each with a demi is not ever a battle company; therefore no free transports.

Don't forget the minimum of one Auxiliary Choice to make it a Gladius instead of just 2 Demis.

Didn't add the auxiliary because i specified it was a gladius(although it would not have hurt).
Could have 3 auxiliaries.
And of course the not-battle company 2 gladius' each with 1 demi would have 2 auxiliaries minimum.
But all that just loses focus on what the battle company is; which is a single gladius that has 2 demicompanies(and specific hqs)
