For me, it has to be the Dark Angels (Repent! For Tomorrow You Die!) as not only does it not have much of a rhythm or feel to it, it also makes no sense. They're shouting their battlecry while charging on to the battlefield, so how does it make sense to say that they're going to kill them tomorrow. I think their new battlecry should be "Never Forgive, Never Forget!", as not only does it have a better rhythm and sharpness and a reference to the fallen, it also has a much more threatening message to their enemies. The message of "If you do anything against us, we will not rest until every single one of you is dead".

Yeah agreed, the Fists one is a bit of a mouthful.

They're not all battle cries, so much as mission statements, in some cases.

Anyway, the lot of them are borderline heretics and should replace their battlecry with the following;

"Ave Imperator Dei!"

I assume they use "For the Emperor" 90% of the time. It's like the catchy 40k version of "Allahu Akhbar"

Just follow the Carcharadon Astra and be completely silent in battle to scare the enemy. Or their unofficial battle cry "I'm a shark, I'm a shark, suck my dick, I'm a shark!"

All should be replaced with

"WE'RE GOING STREAKING! ACROSS THE QUAD!"

The sheer WTF factor would give them a major tactical advantage.

All of those are poetry compared to the Doom Warriors cry of, "Doom ye! Doom ye! Doom ye!"

The Imperial fists one you could just replace with "Let our Fists be Bloody!"

I agree and really like you're replacement. "Never Forgive! Never Forget!" is very fitting from what I know of the Dark Angels, and much more snappy. The other one is kinda cringy. I also agree with others about the Fists. Clunky, awkward, kinda cringy. What about "For Dorn, Holy Terra and the Emperor!" or something?

But yeah that quote even when cut down is pretty hard to say.

Even though they are my army, Blood Ravens are by far the worst. "Knowledge is power! Guard it well!"


Black Templars and Salamanders are the best by a longshot.

but that is Alpha Legion's battle cry. They wouldnt want to incite confusion.

Salamanders have an awesome battle cry. Further confirming that they are the best chapter.

I never liked the IH "The flesh is weak!", sounds too Hellraiser. I've been mettling with an alternative for some time...
Sons of Medusa "Purge the weak!" Is so much better.

My favorite battle cry has always been the Night Lords original: We are coming for you!

White Scars are based off of the Mongols and those warlike tribes - I would imagine their war cry to be more of an actual yell or war-cry, maybe with a bit of yips in them.

The best battlecry is 'RETREAT!'

Or if you feel evil, 'WE SURRENDER!'

Confuses the enemy right proper.

I always thought that a quote attributed to Horus would make an awesome battlecry: "The day will not save them, and we own the night."

BR have changed theirs, it's now "None shall find us wanting!" which is pretty snappy, and appropriate for a Chapter on a Penitent Crusade.

Im pretty sure you're taking that the wrong way on purpose, but just in case; he means the "For the Emperor!" part.

There are two battle-cries that are central to 40k. "Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!" and "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!"

Third place options are Salamanders and Black Templars. Everything else I would be ashamed to yell in my FLGS.

It is probably shorter in High Gothic

I feel like the White Scars could have a better war cry, something that fits with them more. Someone suggested yips and such, which I would agree with. The worst one, imo, is either Imperial Fists, because it's so long, or the Dark Angels, because it's worded weird.

For all chapters, just start laughing like really hard for the whole battle creep the @#$& out of them.

The Imperial Fists is too long, the Ultramarines one makes me fall asleep and the Iron Hands and Salamanders are the only ones who actually sound intimidating.
