KB is too polite to say this, but I'm not.

We send out over a dozen Orks in the UK:

We got more donations than returned Orks.
This wouldn't irritate me alone, but, if a participant didn't post in this topic, or return their painted Ork, they gave absolutely no indication that they even received one. No confirmation, no "Sorry, I don't have the time after all."

Y'all are cheeky, and I am unimpressed.

So there are people who have not even said they've received the minis, let alone done anything with them or returned them?*

That does not sound good. I obviously don't know the full details, but what I will say if there's anyone out there reading this who is sitting on an unpainted Ork for this project, please get it back to the relevant sender , painted or otherwise. Not only has KB been very generous here, shipping models half way round the world out of his own pocket, but he's also given you a chance to participate in what is one of the most awesome community projects I've seen on these forums, and contribute something to what might be one of the most diverse and special armies in the game. So don't pass up that chance, and if you can't paint the mini for whatever reason, please at least be good enough to return it.

Purely out of interest, how many minis have now been completed for the project?

*if that's not the case, apologies for the mini-rant!

I second that!!! I have not received mine yet, and I really hope that a couple of gakkers won't ruin this for the rest of us.

Agreed and exalted on both the above posts. This was a community project not a 'here Lijah, have a free ork' project. Paint and return or just return if you're unable to get around to fulfilling your previous pledge. Anyone hear anything abot what happened to all the orks that went to the states?

That is what I meant, Para. Personally I'm not steamed, but my mother was the one who took over logging and mailing when I was hit by serious fatigue last year.
She asks me ever so often if anyone didn't get theirs, and I have to say "I don't know, only the ones you've had back and a couple of others replied to say they got them at all."
And she just gets confused.

We mailed out 13, and four have returned theirs painted. Four further have donated. I may be one or two off, as it's an old email from December.
Now I know people have real life, but checking in and saying "got it, need more time" would have been fine.
Haven't painted or built my own yet, it happens.

Blimey. Is it possible between you and kb to work out who hasn't returned or acknowledged receiving the minis and send them mildly irate PMs? I appreciate it's not my business, but I'd really like to see this project get as finished as possible, it was such ac cool idea.

I know exactly who has and hasn't, but being the mild mannered forgetful fether I am, I haven't pushed.
KB is not too choked up over the loss of the various orks, but on his behalf, I'm ticked at the lack of communication.

I'm going to be looking at a Drunken (late) Secret Santa in the spring for P&M posters, where we convert or paint a single figure that we think the giftee would enjoy.
Non responders (as in, no written explanation, not unfinished work) from this will not be allowed to participate. Nor will minors or low post count (# to be determined) Dakka members.
So at least there's that.

This is probably one of the few times where I've ever being accused of being polite, as usually I've got the subtlety of a sack full of hammers.

My main drivers in not pushing were that i was still nursing donlads devestator marines and trev from the thread that spawned this idea. While i have communicated with the owners throughout, I am definitely not one to ask someone else why they're painting slow.

Further, I've still not finished my ork (HEH).

Now, new year, new painting dedication from me. Dons devs are 100% finished and photographed and will be shipping back tomorrow (public holiday here today). MSRCs nids are rocking out, and will be finished soon (tm), and the hard work on trev is done, he'll be done next month as part of paras comp (hopefully).

So, aside from clearing out my cupboard, i am elevating my entitlement. I dont give a gak about $50 worth of plastic, postage was more than that, I'm just kinda bummed that all the good intentions we had as a collective didnt eventuate.

Still, I'm not giving up on it yet, and while BCs dog house is a good stick, I'm happy to find another carrot. If i need to buy and ship more orks, no problems. The US orks was the biggest disappointment for most, but real life kicked oadie in the nads, so not much could be done.

My plan is to finish my outstanding commitments, PM everyone for an update on where they are up to (no accusations or expectations here), and finally work or what stage two will be - presumably another few AOBR sets of orks in Brittania and Murica, and HUGELY helpful people like BC to help make it come to fruition.

Rest assured, it is going as slow as an asthmatic pensioner, but the project will be completed one way or another, and it will be cool as hell.

Good to hear that you're not at all put off. I know that I for one would probably be rather frustrated if it were me sending out the minis and taking on the mammoth task of organising a project like this.

If and when you do do anything more with the project, then I'm sure I hardly need to say that I'm more than happy to paint another Ork or three down the line!

Of things that could possibly go wrong in my life, this doesn't rate. At best, everyone is a forgetful and disorganised as myself, at worst, some jerks wanted to steal $3 of plastic.

I really doubt there's any in the latter category.

If stage two requires a selective group, I've got a plan for that to make it hilarious too

Been wanting to offer more myself. Would offer some transport solutions for all these wonderful boys, if you will let me donate further.

I think a PM should remind people enough. This is too good a project to let drop.

Thanks Cam.

That's the other thing with projects like this, it will teach you a lot about people. If i have paid a few bucks to find out more about people's character, that's a good deal

It's fine dude, people like you and methebest are still active on the forums and painting - you aren't a concern for me, i know you'll get it done eventually mate.

Lots of people simply seem to have disappeared.

Honestly tough, I'm happy to have an open amnesty - if you see this, have a model from this project, haven't finished or lost it or whatever, no problems. Send it back unpainted, semi painted, completed, whatever - alternatively, feel free to finish it, and take your time! Things taking a long time aren't a problem, not knowing is though. Lost it? Sold it? Can't afford to replace it? Don't care, just let me know.

I'm not even interested in publicly shaming anyone, you can pm me and I'll hide the truth from even buttery!

US orks haven't shipped yet and will probably need a review before they do, happy to add you to the list.

Will the Americans do better than the Brits? Can I spark an international rivalry? Will the Canadians do better than the rest of the world combined and then apologise to everyone else for being too awesome? Stay tuned!

Careful throwing around national sterotypes, or I'll be donating an extra Ork in prison fatigues! Or perhaps under attack from several kinds of deadly fauna! Or maybe just one standing bewildered in front of a set of demolished stumps!

Heh. So...I should do a Mountie Ork? Now that would be an interesting conversion adventure... Sammy Steele...or maybe a french Ork eating Poutine? Or...gasp - moose antlers?? Or a hockey playing Ork, with his big choppa cut out to look like a hockey stick? and little skates? hahaha

In all seriousness, if I *can* still get in, i'd love to partake - and I'm mostly kidding about making mine a hooser Ork.

I was going to be sending mine in directly (sorry for the delay, holiday crunch hit me a bit hard)
But if the US still hasn't shipped, and there are some missing, let me know what you need. I'm building an ork army for a friend and I'll have a bunch of boys left over.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

I'll find out tomorrow for you, I apologise for being uncertain. My November was spent examining my pillow.
