Erebus is *the* evil. None of them would have ever happened (well, except Doombreed and the EoM, I suppose) or become evil if it wasn't for Erebus.

How was Typhoon even voted for?? I wonder if they read the books...
I voted for him. I thought his willingness to desecrate the sanctity of life by creating a zombie plague simply to amuse himself was pure evil. What books are there about him?
I suppose our definition of evil is very different. Haha.
I was speaking of the Horus Heresy books.
I made my argument based on the fact that Typhon was strange but never actually turned until the eye of terror, and in my opinion, when one transforms from the EoT, they are no longer human. That, and the fact that the Warp Gods force their minions (ex. Typhon) to do their bidding.
Erebus, however, has been evil. Changing the entire Crusade to enact his Evil plan by playing Horus' mind using sorcery, is the definition of evil. All of this before any of them even discovering the EGO!

I had not known that about Erebus. How strange... that's exactly what I was looking for, a raw and unadulterated form of evil. Once you've been corrupted by Chaos it doesn't count, you don't have much of a choice. But evil beforehand? Madness.

HOWEVER, an argument could be made that one must consent into going into the warp where the raw energies can and, in many cases, will corrupt any mind. So they went in knowing what the powers can do, but still go in. That can be pretty evil.
On the other hand, important people such as Leman Russ who goes into the EoT to fight the traitor legions consent, but go in as part of their duties. So its really a tough argument overall. Haha

I chose other. There are some seriously sick Warhammer 40k RPG (Player) characters out there that'd make even Doombreed's stomach queezy.

It's got to be Erebus, hands down.
Key acts that led to the entire Horus Heresy
1) On Colchis he was a student of their Religion of Evil.
2) When he joined the Great Crusade and became an Astartes, he retained his Faith of Evil but kept it hidden from everyone (except Kor Phaeron, who also retained said faith).
3) When the Emperor called the Word Bearers for censure, Erebus was first in line to seize on a distraught Lorgar's vulnerable state, actively whispering in his ear about the possibility of "true gods", before pointing Lorgar in the direction of the Eye of Terror and essentially saying "why don't we start over there?".
4) With his Primarch corrupted, he oversaw the purging of as many "faithless" Word Bearers as possible, ensuring that Chaos worship would spread through the Legion swiftly.
5) At the same time, he began to plant seeds of corruption in the other legions, and sought out like-minded individuals (Typhon, Bile etc).
6) With the Word Bearers fully corrupted, it was time to move on Horus, so he arranged and enacted the fall of Horus from start to finish (killing several worlds in the process), and masterminded the (failed) fall of Sanguinius as well. Out-gambiting Horus is especially worthy of note because Primarchs (Horus especially) are constantly referred to as luminous beings that stupefy all others (even Astartes) and are basically living demi-gods. Erebus not only out-wits them, but makes them his unwitting pawns.
Key features
1) Noted for being a master of Daemonology, Chaos lore, spellcraft and not giving a damn about anyone or anything when it comes to ushering in the Chaos apocalypse. He's even planning for the downfall of the Chaos Primarchs and "what comes next".
2) Clearly fully aware from a very early point that what he is doing is Evil with a capital E. Daemonology, living sacrifices, the power of betrayal, the corruption of his entire species; none of this gives him pause at all. He justifies it to the rest of the universe when he has to by saying something along the lines of "it's not my fault that the real gods are horrific Warp monsters that crave our souls", but this is clearly just a convenient PR statement because...
3) He's a megalomaniac of Emperor Palpatine proportions. He is convinced he is masterminding the future of the universe (calling himself Destiny's Hand) and is doing everything he can to ensure that although Chaos wins, it does so in a way that see's him come out of it on top of the heap alongside them. Everyone and everything else is expendable, and he is fully conscious of this.
Erebus is one of the best parts of the Horus Heresy series, because he's just so hilariously and absolutely evil. There's no sympathy, there's no empathy, there's only What's Best For Erebus. It's very hard to pull a character like that off successfully, but I think their doing it very well.
Plus, it makes it doubly great when he suffers a setback (like when Horus flays the skin from his face, or when Kharn cuts his ahnd off and is a micro-second away from killing him).
