Watching the Seattle game and already in the 1st quarter, there's something I'm getting quite bored/tired of hearing about:

The condition of the grass

Yes, Seattle is down. Yes, Carolina has really pounced.

But the grass only has so much to do with it.

It's more the 1P.M. Start I bet. Honestly the game is FAR from over. But that being said, damn the panthers came to play.

Ok maybe I spoke too soon ;p damn, this kinda stinks. Hopefully the Seahawks can fight back maybe a little.

Yeah... if it gets much worse, I may have to switch over to my playstation, and continue trying to contend for the golden boot in FIFA 16

Aaaaaand the 'Hawks are done.

What could have been, if Seattle had showed up to play 30 minutes earlier than they actually did today?

Yep... and I have to say, as a Seattle fan that was actually a VERY well officiated game, which sadly hasn't been the norm for games I've watched this season.

Ya, but Seattle did an amazing job making up ground. Still wish they hadn't let things go that far in the first place.

All I can say is the Patriots! They've pulled too many shenanigans and mostly gotten away with it for me to ever like them. Shame, because I kinda like Tom Brady as a player.

Also someone might want to remind the Seahawks that they have to play a game today!

Okay, I see your point. I'm only kind of a passive football fan anyway, I don't watch a lot of games (although I do consider myself a Chiefs fan). I usually watch the Super Bowl every year no matter who's playing.

And I still don't like the Patriots.

So Cardinals at Carolina, and Patriots at Broncos. Should be 2 pretty interesting games. Pretty crazy the season is almost over, feels like it flew bye.

Ha!

Fair enough, and more than OK!

All things considered, this is one of the 'friendlier' NFL threads out there on the Internet, believe it or not!

Looking back on it, I have to agree...

This season has flown by!

Hey now, I was 15 then.

Well, Pats fans think that the NFL didn't exist before 2001, so it's all good.

Since when exactly?

BELIEVE me, we know all about the pre-2001 Patriots around here...

I personally think that, when Brady retires, and the Pats go back to their pre-2001 mediocrity and worse.... Boston will go back to being what it truly is: a Baseball and Hockey town. I still remember clearly growing up, seeing when the Patriots were on national TV, and the stadium was half-full or less, even the great Dew Bledsoe couldn't do much to save them

I actually agree with you. The pats stadium isn't convenient to get to and for 100 years Boston was a baseball and hockey town for sure.

I know there are a LOT of fans that will stick with the pats though. Sometimes it just takes a little success to create a good following of lifers.

Yeah...no!

OK...maybe?

The NFL is king in the USA now, by a wide margin.

Hockey is a distant 4th, and might be overtaking Basketball soon in New England.

It will all come down to how much longer Bill Belichick wants to stick around and if the Pats can get lucky again on a QB.

A good coach and a good QB - and a smart front office and an owner that stays out of the way, for the most part.

That's "all" it takes!

And yeah, Foxboro is no fun getting into or out of on a gameday...

Bit OT, but I think that nationally speaking, hockey is distant 4th. But I think regionally, hockey can jump up to 1st or 2nd.

With the rise of the Pats, I would knock the Bruins to 3rd, but I think that, prior to, I'd have said Boston sports went: baseball, hockey, basketball/football.... I simply know too many die-hard bruin fans.

I think Pittsburgh is much more clearly a football/hockey town, and baseball is a distant 3rd. Same thing with Detroit, though I think we could make the argument that the Wings are 1st, and then the argument would be whether it's the Tigers or Lions at 2, though I have no idea where the Pistons would fit in there, considering their lack of success since way back in the late 90s.

Having lived in Massachusetts most of my life...

Prior to 2001, from the 80's until the late 90's, it was pretty much:

1) Red Sox
2) Celtics
3) Bruins
4) Pats

Hockey has had a VERY vocal minority voice here at all times.

We are NOT a College sports area at all...

Anyway, nowadays:

1) Pats
2) Red Sox
3/4) Revised opinion - Toss up, Bruins and Celtics

It will take a long, sustained period of suckiness to knock the Pats off their perch here.

And yes, Brady and Belichick retiring will probably due just that!

Pretty good game, and I'm really liking this score line to this point in the 4th quarter

Very much this. Denver could use a few more points. Brady could use a few more turnovers, too. :3

And that defensive holding call was probably the first bad call all game....

And on replay, it's a good call, but its still a bad call because the flag was so late coming in. I mean heck, the flag doesn't even appear until a few seconds AFTER the receiver has had time to plead a case visually.

edit: and regardless of the fact that it's Tom Brady, I HATE it when a false start play is allowed to continue, because there is a risk of players getting hurt... play shoulda been blown dead right away.

I'd rather see Brady get a few more sacks on him.

Tense game, but that was an outstanding defensive game by the Broncos.

Now I just need the Cardinals to win.

What's worse if the pats just kick field goals on their last 3 possessions they win. This game hurts a lot.
