I had been looking for a sci-fi themed game/miniatures for a while now and Infinity seemed to be my best bet, however I stumbled across the artwork from Icarus Miniatures for their character concepts and really liked the style. Now several months later after I have read more of the rules and background, the first miniature has made it from artwork to render to 3D print and now an actual cast. I have got a sneak peak of the cast of the latest mini, Gabriel Cross.
If you want some more info go check out their website http://icarusminiatures.com/ and be sure to keep an eye on their blog, there are some awesome models in the pipeline. I have also popped an image of the artwork just to show how faithful they are trying to be with the models.
Anto, the man behind it all is very open so all feedback is always appreciated as he is looking to create the best narrative gaming he can. Thanks for reading my gushing babble and have fun!

Morning, just a quick update following last night's Icarus Blog, the Kickstarter is due on 7th of September.
As a little preview they have released the finished renders of the impressive looking Alliance Gunslinger and the Brutal Nexus Grunt. I'm really looking forward to the Nexus, High Tech and Savage all at the same time and no Chinese plastic in sight should make for some awesome miniatures!!
As always feel free to discuss and have fun.

Sculpts are looking good. Gunslinger doesn't do much for me, though. I believe Prodos is producing these, yes? Should be good quality then.

Prodos Sculpted Gabriel but the actual production is being handled by Zealot Miniatures in the UK. Keeping it all local should avoid the pitfalls of overseas production and thereby keep the quality high and production on time. Plus judging by the quality of the Gabriel miniature the next batch of concepts will be awesome.
Just in case anyone is interested, we have an AOBR marine, Mantic enforcer, the Gabriel miniature and the Infinity Bounty hunter for scale comparison.

A shame their not 28-30mm scale.
I might pick up some of the aliens but the humans won't fit the rest of my collection.
out of curiosity do you why you chose this scale?

having spoken,to the Boss man, he did have an original 3d print at a true 28mm scale but because the proportions are all true and not exagerated like say a space marine it looked tiny, more like a 20mm. The scale they are in is considered 28mm by the industry but as you can see by the above examples the scale is all different with each company, though they do slot into infinity and mantic well. They will slot into your 40k forces if you true scale your marines though :-D

Evening all, Outrider Jim with a daily update.
A sneak peek time, Contents of the Nexus Starter Box:
2x Nexus Grunts in unique Poses
2x Feral Nexus in Unique Poses
1x Nexus Brawer
1 x Nexus Assassin
These will all be high quality Resin, same as the Gabriel Sculpt. 1st up the Nexus Grunt, you've seen the render above and another unique sculpt coming our way.
I'm really looking forward to these guys, they've got some height and bulk to them and they're not even the largest species in the game!

Do any 3 manufacturers actually agree what scale is for minis?
I'm funny about scale so the most I can go up to for a normal human is 32mm tall, the enforcer is about 35mm tall so I'm guessing that that normal sized human mini is about 35/36mm tall/ 32mm to the eye so far to big for me.
I'm sold on the xenos tho

I have always been partial to humans so I do like the true scale and correct armour but as an Ork guy, right back to my first bloodbowl team (still have) and my warhammer 3rd/4th edition army even my 2nd edition 40k army was Orks - I gotta love those big green 4 armed Nexus monsters
The heads are separate and yes there are helmets! They are still in discussion over the second unique grunt in the starter so there may very well be a helmeted head. But as a sneaky peek if they include a helmet it will be something along this style, but guaranteed at least 1 mini in the pack with a helmet!

I'll check what pledge levels are going to be, i'm sure there are miniature level pledges but might not know details till closer to launch date.
As for today, as we saw the helmet image above it might be nice to see the Nexus Assassin in all his glory, plus a little background!
Assassins will arrive on a target planet sometimes months before the invasion host. Along with a small unit of other Nexus, they will gather intelligence about their target area; defences, locations of strategic importance, and most importantly, who the leaders are.
Dozens of assassins may be sent onto a planet, arriving over a period of up to a year. Each will gather intelligence of a particular region, co-ordinating with each other, and the invasion fleet to plan their next move.
An assassin’s mission following the gathering of intelligence; is to kill the most prominent leader of their target area. The confusion that follows the murder of these figures makes the invasion easier, as leaders are not yet in place to make the crucial decisions to stop the invasion
This guy should look pretty awesome!

Evening, I've just seen some sneaky peaks at the next Nexus grunt sculpt, the dude is looking awesome. Can't wait to show him off. In the meantime I though I would finish up the Nexus starter box with The Feral Nexus and the Nexus Brawler.
Feral Nexus
Long before they ventured into space, the ancient Nexus lived in tribes, constantly waging war against one another.
Some of this ancient barbarism survives through the feral Nexus. After being quelled by the Praesidians after their first contact, the more vicious members of the species were outcast, sent to Nexus’ second moon and cut off. Over generations they reverted to the old ways of tribal war.
When Varakos and the Nexus Separatist Movement declared war on the alliance, the general returned to the second moon and tracked down the leader of these feral Nexus. After besting the leader in combat, Varakos enslaved his feral kin and turned them towards his enemies.
The feral Nexus are now used as spearhead troops. They care little for their lives, simply relishing in the bloodshed. This makes them perfect for the first wave in an assault.
On the battlefield, the feral Nexus are unpredictable. They are deadly warriors, but are prone abandoning the battle to feast on the fallen. Even among most Nexus, this is considered disgusting (though there are a number who eat the flesh of sentient creatures in secret), but it is tolerated because of the effect it has on enemy morale
Nexus Brawler
Nexus culture is steeped in conflict. From their earliest days, the Nexus have been famed for their ability to make war. Before their first contact with the Praesidians, war was life for the Nexus. The various tribes would be battling their neighbors relentlessly, fighting over land, resources, or simply just to fight.
During times of “peace”, the Nexus sate their need for violence in vast arenas. Entrants fight one another to the death for the entertainment of their kin. These arena fighters tend to be Nexus who are eager to earn glory in battle, or who desire the wealth that arena combat can bring.
Combatants that survive several combats are often drafted into the Nexus army as Brawlers, close combat specialists. Formed into small squads and given the most fearsome combat weaponry, Brawlers seek the strongest opponents to duel, unable to shake their gladiatorial roots.
Every Nexus is better than most species in close combat, but Brawlers make a sport of it.
I'm loving these guys, as always drop some questions or comments and i'll do my best to answe and as always have fun.

Afternoon all, hope you are enjoying your Saturday gaming. There's a new blog post over at http://icarusminiatures.com with a little more background to the universe.
Following on from yesterday's post , here's the Alliance troopers ready to take on the Nexus. You get 2 unique male and 1 female trooper in each Alliance starter.
The Alliance military is separated into different “Armies”, these are usually made up of the fighting men and women from a particular region, or are formed with a specific task in mind.
The Alliance trooper is the core of the Alliance military. They are a versatile fighting force; and while they lack the skill of the Galactic Marine Corps, they are a very capable fighting force. Alliance ground actions are usually completed by troopers, supported by more specialist troops. But it’s the humble trooper who wins the Alliance’s wars.
Armed with the standard issue 7.62x51mm assault rifle; the trooper’s kit can be modified to fill their battlefield role.

Evening all, hope the day has treated you well. The Kickstarter info is picking up speed so I thought I would round out the Alliance starter with the last 2 characters. The enigmatic Gunslinger and the Alliance Outrider Scout.
You get 1 of each in the starter pack, the outrider is my personal favourite of the two, gotta love the cloak and helmet combo Just heard the Gunslinger has been printed, which is excellent news!

Evening all, I have some new renders to show for the Nexus Grunts. These are the 2 unique sculpts in the starter pack, both arms and heads are interchangeable, and never fear, those eagle eyes that have read the rules. Weapon packs are to be developed (though I'm told, not till after the KS), thereby allowing you to magnetize the arms so you can modify the load outs!

Evening all.
For those looking for possible pledge levels etc. Icarus have a link up to the preview Kickstarter page. Just join up to the Facebook play testers page and follow the link. The levels are all fixed but you have miniature only pledges, starter packs and then the rulebook only or complete package.
In other news, work has begun on the Alliance troopers, who should be ready to show as the KS starts. So all going really smoothly, which is what I like to see if I'm going to dropping money on a project. There is even a little tease of the stretch goals, Marines and a nexus General!

I started this thread as my personal guide to the Kickstarter miniatures and game that is 1 week away! The good news is that sculpting is ongoing and the three male Alliance trooper variants are finished, they will release more as we get closer to the KS but here is another sneaky look at one. I'm really liking the realistic scale that they have gone for with the armour and all the little details - chin strap, ammo pouches, pistol etc.
More images when a I can get the go ahead to show!

Hi!
I purchase the Gabriel Cross miniature and I have to say that it is superb. The quality of the resin is amazing, very crisp and detailed. The proportions are good and the size is perfect to fit with other sci-fi ranges very well, so the existing scenery would be nice to play with.
Can't wait until the KS begins next week.

I am getting quite excited about the possibilities for this universe, even more so now I have an actual miniature in my possession! As such I have a couple of images still left just showing the cuts and design of the Alliance troopers, the ball and socket connection system should make these guys a pleasure to assemble as well as paint.
Stay tuned for updates - I shall try and keep Dakka informed of the Kickstarter's progress and hopefully my own progress on the Gabriel miniature (being a horribly slow painter this is going to be a bit of a challenge! )
