I still like it. I think it has character.

Nah. It's supposed to be a very cliché faux-classical look, derived from statues both of the time and of the renaissance. It's not that offensive, to be honest; makes a nice break from everything being skulls.

Alternatively, you could just photoshop out the base and replace it with a shark.

Sorry I took so long to reply.

vipoid wrote:That certainly looks a lot better.

The head looks.. creepy. What did you do to it?

master of ordinance wrote:Holy gak Talys that looks amazing. I love the cockpit too!

I filled the head in with greenstuff, turned it around, and sunk it into the recess of the cavity -- obviously, painted before it's assembled, because otherwise, it would be impossible to get the gradient below the armored lip. The arms come from a Furioso dreadnought kit, to give it more volume. The weapons are the ones that come with the kit arms, but I sliced them off and paired them onto the Furioso arm (which has its front barrel removed). Fortunately, the ammo belts for the two weapons look really similar.

Oh, and I took the articulating shoulder-mounted weapon, and made it a back mounted weapon. The way it looks stock, the Kastellan shoulder weapon looks like it's on too fragile an arm.

A bunch of other little stuff

And Thanks!!

It all comes down to the ugly baby blue GW paintjob on it honestly. I painted mine in a more grounded scheme and I've changed a lot of minds about the model. It's still definitely chunky, but it's chunky in that so very 40k way:

Space Marine fliers are gross. The Masters of marches, relics, rites, and the Lord Executioners are lame.

The Ogryn heads look like they have down syndrome. (I like the Bullgryn heads with the masks though a lot.) The Taurox is weird but things can be done to make it look a little better. The Mars Alpha pattern Leman Russes (used by the DKoK) look way better than the standard Russes.

That's somewhat intentional. They are hominids that forked off of Homo Sapiens on a particularly high gravity world, forcing them to gain muscle mass at the cost of mental faculties. I'd disqualify them based on the fact they're supposed to be ugly. When things are supposed to be at least neutral to look at and they come out hideous, that's an issue.

I don't think human skin has a saving throw. It's kinda why they wear helmets in the first place.

I understand that, I just wish they didn't look so... cartoonish maybe? I dunno. I know they're not supposed to look like normal humans, but I feel like they could be less goofy with the desired effect.

There's also something really off with those caterpillar tracks. It's hard to describe, but it looks like they were glued on by a drunk Irishman.
I was tempted again to post the picture of the Taurox again for reference of what is off with it:
Spoiler:
- The track assemblies are of a size their suspension should be contained within them but we still see a secondary system they are attached to.
- What is the point of the mudguards? If is was capped a bit to look like more protective armor, fine, but seems redundant.
- The large slope up a tread is for the long tracked vehicles that cross trenches: pointless: see spoiler of Humvee further down.
- Mounting guns on the side of the vehicle near the back just seems silly, like you could walk into fire if you open a side door.
- The rear door looks like a giant tank hatch. There is a reason for a drop down door: ease of exit and some cover as the door is swinging down with a good field of view.
- The split open back is just bad, at the very least have a viewport / camera on them so you can keep an eye out as you open them.
- The side doors look like bulkheads for a submarine: more designed for pressure than armor.
- The exhaust pipes coming out of the engine compartment just seems like bad design: ran out of room in the engine box, then routed back into the truck.
- The exposed latches for the engine compartment just seems to beg to pop those open and drop a grenade in.

I think it is the design looks too much like a Peterbilt retrofit:
Spoiler:

If the engine extended to the width of the vehicle a bit like the Humvee it may have looked a little more angry.
Ah! here we go!
Spoiler:

It really is a bad blend of Humvee and APC.
Only way I will use this model is when I put wheels on it.

I think the Taurox is a warhammerified MRAP.

Like someone else said the main problem is the tracks, and that (like most IG stuff) its really far out of scale.
