The blood warriors look great and the price isn't actually too bad considering many thought they'd be priced in a similar way to the stormcast at £30 for 5 so win - win there.
As for the castle, looks amazing but way too much money but then I'm not buying any scenery anyway so wont effect me.

Way too many skulls (as usual ) but oh my, overall that is one impressive kit. An amazing centrepiece.
The price though is very steep even for the smaller formations.
I really love the summoners gate and redoubt but over €200 is fairly darn steep for a terrain kit.

Yeah, not really. They're comparable in gameplay terms to Chaos Warriors which are 12 for £20. "They're not as expensive as something else that's even more overpriced, therefore it's win-win"

I usually don't bat an eye at GW prices, but Jesus Christ on a motorbike is that fortress expensive. I can't see many people buying it. Even the smaller pieces are exorbitant. Blood Warriors are also way too expensive. I tend to think that the Terminator/Wraithguard prices are the upper limit for either 5 bigger guys or 10 smaller guys. These guys are what, $10 more expensive? Yeah, no.
edit: The Blood Warriors are even more expensive than the much maligned Witch Elves. Think about that for a moment.

Who has this sort of money to spend all at once.
I think most people who are going to buy it will do it in pieces (and play the other configurations). Aside from the cost of the Chaos Hut, it's just way too big for the vast majority of gamers, and will take a crazy amount of time to give it a paintjob that does it justice (and really, who is going to buy a set that costs that much and not paint it nicely?). The fort is more than 4' from end to end at its widest point, and even the large AoS models (eg bloodthirster) look very small against it.

GW is winning its propaganda campaign against you! Don't give in so easy. Just because something else is totally overprice doesn't mean it's a WIN if something else isn't *as* overpriced!

Well, also the Khorne guys are more the size of Chaos Warriors, as compared to the Sigmarites which are terminator-sized. So seeing them priced like terminators would have been horrifying! (Though sadly unsurprising)
Honestly, I feel like what is really going to keep AOS from lasting will be the price of the new kits. The box set was good, but these new kits are all quite overpriced by about 15-20%. That dreadhold doesn't help the image of the game as reasonably priced either. Especially when the game is so lose in terms of structure.
It was what I was afraid GW would take from dwindling WHFB sales-
"It looks like cost of the game was a major factor in loss of sales."
"Well then we should cut the size of games down..."
"That should help alleviate the problem, yes."
"...and then increase the costs by 30%!"

I quite like the idea of the gate and wall for chaos themed 40k battles... it would be cool having that down the middle of our RoB board. I'm not overly excited by the design but I think it will look cool on the table... I dunno why but i'm not really feeling the other stuff for 40k, maybe its the triangular forts, I wish they were square.

Sure it is. Blood Angels Tactical Squad - £28. Blood Warriors - £37.50. Pretty much directly comparable.
The bloodreavers weren't too bad, paladins were OK given their relative ingame power, but everything else has been nutty.

Seeing the sprues I like the terrain more, I might consider getting 1 tower but that's about it since it's all I could afford anyway. I think the painted pics make it look too gaudy with all the gold and stuff. It would look better just painted in a solid lighter gray or sandy color more like stone.

Yeah, I'm definitely with BullO on this. It appears that the bloodreavers are comparably deficient in add-ons as well.
Great looking kit in my opinion. It's just the creeping price tags that make me feel AOS won't be able to latch on.

The models appeal to kids. Always have. When did you get into Warhammer? Less-strict competitive rules appeal to more mature gamers.
Love the Bloodwarriors in the starter but don't like the uncovered arms in this pack. Hmm.

If you look at GW's current pricing tiers, you have basic infantry, specialist infantry, and then large infantry (50mm). Specialist infantry includes models like devastator marines -- the difference is that they're usually sold in boxes of 5, not 10.

I think the models have the same type of aesthetic as World of Warcraft (or the other way around, since FB/ 40k came first) -- which has appeal over all age categories. I would tend to agree that less-strict competitive rules appeal to more mature gamers.

In the same sense, there are many races in WoW, and they don't look like each other. They share in common generally heroic attributes, over-the-top weapons, bulging muscles and shoulders for the men, svelte waistlines for the women, etc. The villains are extra-villainous and the heroes are extra-heroic. They are meant to be fantastic more than realistic. If you took GW models and plunked them into WoW, generally speaking, they'd feel quite at home. From Faeit:
http://natfka.blogspot.ca/2015/08/the-celestant-prime-rules.html
The Celestant Prime
move 12", save 3+, 8 wounds, bravery 10
Can fly
Two weapons
Ghal Maraz R2" Attacks 2 Hit 3+ Wound 2+ Rend -3 damage 3
The Commetstrike Sceptre- calls down a comet from the heavens. Pick a point on the board within 24" and roll a die; any model within the die's range of the point takes d3 mortal wounds.
The Celestant Prime does not start the battle on the table. Instead he is in the Celestial Realm drawing additional power into Ghal Maraz. Each round decide whether or not he will enter the battlefield during the movement phase. For each round he stays in the Celestial Realm, he gains 2 additional attacks with Ghal Maraz.
When he comes on, set him up outside 9" from enemy models anywhere on the board. He can't move any further, and any enemy models within 12" lose 2 bravery until the next hero phase.
Once per round, the mystical energies that swirl around his feet, grant him insight. You can change one die roll of your choice for the Celestant Prime before modifiers.

I don't know what kids and adults some of you have been playing with... In my experience the less strict 'forge a narrative' rulesets like AoS appeal more to a younger audience, while the tight, balanced rulesets appeal more to a mature audience. Certainly tournaments are filled with the latter and not the former, not to mention that sufficiently young players will likely use the rules as a guideline rather than law anyways. All of it adds up to a game that is pulling itself in different directions; darker fluff with mature themes (though execution is debatable), high-quality and high-priced models, but then an apparent orientation of marketing (in terms of rules and certain model aesthetics) towards younger players.
Really its a simple consequence of GW proudly doing no market research and deciding for themselves what the consumer wants. Sometimes they get it right, or right-ish, and this has kept them doing well despite the poor decisions, but now years the policy of cuts/price raises for short-term-benefit-long-term-loss is catching up to them. Three straight financial reports of falling sales speak for the success of their strategy, not to mention lost growth over the course of the last decade that we can only guess at.

I don't have time to paint or use Dreadhold but I will buy it anyway because I like it. It will look great gathering dust on my shelf . All I need to figure out is which combination of pieces to get. One Overlord Bastion and one Malefic Gate should get me at least one of each part, right?
Blood Warriors are bad. Like Bloodreavers, being multipart with obvious joints makes them look much worse than onepose models from AoS starter set . They aren't quite Forsaken-bad, but not much better either. The new and improved pricetag adds to the insult

Fair enough. What I said is a bit off topic.
Anyways, I echo sentiments about the price of the skull terrain but the new blood-whatevers don't seem to be too far out of line with normal GW pricing. There are plenty $50 10-man kits for elite infantry that are not as large or as detailed as these ones, or equivalent $30 5-man kits. Don't get me wrong; I think they are expensive as hell and not worth the price except to big Khorne fans, but I'm not surprised by the price point either. Like someone else mentioned, I also find them... underwhelming compared to the (cheaper) ones from the starter. The bare arms looks weird and on the whole the details just don't feel cohesive somehow. To me the new ones look OTT enough to be silly, while I found the starter ones to look great with the same level of anti-heroic style.
