Not seen it mentioned yet, but Antenocities latest KS is now Live....... The Undertown

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2097161002/undertown-the-seedier-side-of-the-sphere?ref=nav_search

A lot of the pledges have already gone, but there's about a 25% saving on retail on the ones that are still available.

For Forward Base, if I recall Wave 2 was completed, they are in the final stages of Wave 3. I believe there was an update a couple days saying they had 29 left to finish shipping. I received my Wave 2.2 Forward Base as well as the Wave 1 Forward Base.

Azure Dragons have started shipping. I still haven't received it but not too worried about it.

The Game Box finished shipping and delivered to everyone as far as I'm aware of.

Fast Panda is in production... somehow I missed this Kickstarter, not sure how. I must have been out of town at a convention or something.

Overall mostly everything is in final steps or production. They have been pretty good about projections not directly effecting each other. (ie: Once one is out of production and in packaging/shipping, the production team is left with nothing to do so they do another small KS). Instead of doing large projects, they have kept things smaller and focused. Undertown seems a much smaller scale than Forward Base, so it appears they understand their capability better and adjusted the KS accordingly for it.

I'm holding off on anything AW until I get my replacement tank. Contacted them every way I could and finally tracked them down on Twitter when they were announcing this. We'll see..

Product looks great. Better suited to Infinity than Forward Base due to the more varied elevations IMO.

Mentioned on Facebook that I wouldn't be able to back as I hadn't received my Forward Base pledge yet (I believe it's about 10 months behind for production and family reasons).
This was a statement of fact rather than a criticism, I don't think many people would send another 500 pounds after the previous 500 pounds until they had seen something.

They chose to respond by announcing that I had paid them late.

This is completely true, and they had never expressed any problems with holding my spot during that time.
Rather than just keep quiet or even just respond with info about the status of Forward Base they chose to reveal (vaguely) private info on facebook in order to shame a client that had given them over $1000.

They make great looking products. I'll have a hard time supporting them any further.

Agreed plastictrees. I came across the forward base kickstarter at the same time as a couple of other things I liked and handed over my money. Now, over two years later, I'm told I should be getting a return for my investment soon. I've become more careful and stopped backing overly ambitious projects.
The product is probably going to be lovely and from the updates they've given they say they've greatly improved their processes, but I've lost all enthusiasm for getting the stuff.

I grabbed one of the £234 "Undertown" slots of all eight buildings when it was open - I'm in the market for Infinity terrain. The problem is I'm also backing the Battle Systems KS. I don't really need both, and I'm torn. Opinions on their stuff, their business practices aside?

I think the Antenocitis stuff is probably more practical for infinity, especially in terms of flexibility. It would be much easier to add elements over time and revise layouts.

I have a bunch of the Wyrd stuff that's similar to Battle systems and to build up a board that would be the size of an infinity game you're looking at about 2 hours on average and that's not for anything fancy that has lots of levels. If you keep parts of it assembled then it's not much longer then throwing out non modular stuff.

I own Battle Systems SF1 set. It's tedious. You can get a decent setup out of it but frankly for all the hassle, you're better off going to a PDF scenery place, printing out a bunch of stuff and mounting it to foamboard boxes.

As to the AW stuff.. as has been mentioned, you might find yourself with an unpleasant wait time. Plasticraft or whatever they're called has what I think is pre-paint/printed styrene sets for infinity. I'd compare those to this before assessing value. Especially since one is ready now and the other, again.. who knows.

If you want something pre painted, flexible and available right now I can happily recommend http://hexagonmill.com
Doesn't have the detail of either of the above options but it's fantastic for infinity, packs up easily and sets up quick in an endless number of combinations especially once you add some scatter.

This does look awesome, although a shame they have kind of copied the style of my own board

Love the more gritty, cyber-punk style feel to it.

Have you tried just emailing them from the contact details on the website?

I've contacted them a few times that way and always got a timely personal response from someone there.

I did everything I could think of but they did reply (thought I mentioned that) when they got me on twitter responding to the announcement for this with a customer service issue.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't appreciate the way Antenocitis does business. I really hate that they make some really nice looking products, but if you miss the extremely limited windows to buy the items through Kickstarter, you can't buy the items.

It's not just you. AW used to be one of my favorites, until they started partnership with Mantic and doing their Kickstarters.

I backed Forward Base and in in the last group, apparently. I didn't even know they had so many other Kickstarters going.

That isn't true as far as I know. You can buy the items... but you won't be able to buy them until all the items for their KS have been delivered. That is why you can't buy Forward Base stuff yet because they are still finishing up up delivery for it. Their promise was that it wasn't going to be available for retail until they were delivered. There are some smaller items that were already available that they brought into the KS as add-ons and that is why you see some of those items. Things like Happy Panda Noodles, Game Box, etc are available now.

Reading through the Azure Dragon dropship kickstarter, it certainly sounds like they're only making as many as they sold through that Kickstarter.

I think that's unique to that particular product. Last I heard they were working on an option to make the next flyer much cheaper/ more practical to mass produce. Not sure if they are looking at plastics or what.

They are only making as many Azura Dragon's for the Kickstarter initially. They stated in the comments section that, "the Azure Dragon will eventually come to retail but that will be some time in the future - after the KS production our priorities are drop-ships for the other factions more than getting the Dragon into retail. So the wait for a retail version could be 18 months or more, and it will be at full retail price"

Essentially the goal is to dropships for each of the factions. Then once those have been completed, they'll release the ones into retail. As much as it sucks to have to wait for those that didn't do the KS... it is a good decision on their part. It lets them focus the majority of their resources to KS production and expanding. Then once they are sure they have a handle on the new products, they can release them to retail. Ideally it lets them expand their products, while developing a baseline for costs/production/time so they can properly figure out how to expand employees instead of expanding quickly for short bursts.

Is it just me or do the buildings in this kickstarter look a LOT like buildings from Impudent Mortal with a pre-paint?

They are a standard MDF building design. There are only so many different ways to design the buildings. To be fair there were other buildings that were around before Impudent Mortal, that they look like.. but that is usually where the similarities stop. The painting is the biggest difference, but there are the etched designs in the walls, floors and interiors that Impudent Mortal doesn't tend to do. The edges of the Impudent Mortal are huge, compared to the Undertown. Impudent Mortal and not just them but most MDF terrain have the rooftop castle design they are talking about in their examples that they created a different design from. I an just not seeing it, without some serious reaching but maybe that is just me *shrugs*

They'll sell them post kickstarter but really only produce a few a year. What that number is they haven't said, just mentioned they have to balance making all the faction drop ships and their regular production.

The foodtruck, however, won't be sold with it's awning and seating post KSer only the truck itself.

It's actually quite common for the smaller companies to make limited runs of larger, complex and expensive kits.

They don't have the production capacity to knock out lots of them and then have them sitting in a warehouse if they don't sell.

Sorry, you feel that way, especially as it is completely untrue.

We've had a rather torrid last two years with key staff leaving, having to find and train new staff, and especially losing a close family member after a battle with cancer... so it hasn't been exactly a barrel of laughs trying to stay on top of things, we've just tried to keep ticking over whilst we had to deal with "real life".

It is very tough and time-consuming to deal with that sort of thing and, regardless of what anybody says or thinks about where our priorities should be - ours was with our family, not rushing out products. If you think that is wrong, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

In addition to the above over the last year, in particular, we've completely revamped our casting workshop (twice) as we developed a new method of casting and Moulding. We then spent a huge amount of time removing all old moulds, prototypes and masters (hence removing the products from the store until everything was re-made in the newer mould styles).

Those products are only just now starting to get those back on to the store. It took a long time, but times are tough and there are only four of us.

These things take time to be done properly.

The idea that we have deliberately produced items exclusive to kickstarter, to be withheld from retail sale, is kinda bonkers though... why would we do that? That said we have seen a few posts on disparate forums (possibly from the same person, who knows nowadays) saying that we "are cancelling their store and going kickstarter only" ... which was news to us...and also completely bogus.

It still amazes me how these bizarre rumours get started and then propagated, with people fully believing them, and nobody stops to ask for clarification with the party concerned (e.g. us) ... I guess that's the internet for you and fake news gets everywhere.

However, if you would like to tell us what products you are referring to, we might be able to tell you when they are available (now that we've started putting things back into production)...but do that via our Facebook page as we rarely come to this forum and we dont actively monitor it.

I made my first order a week or so ago and was really impressed with the service I received. Order shipped within a day or two and arrived the next working day, think only about 5 days from start to finish. Products all look to be really good quality. Overall very happy.
