Adding Flavor to Centurions

Recently I have looked as the Space Marine List with Centurions and they seem to be the same. So after some talk we have come up with some options to give them more variety in their builds.

Assault Centurions:
May Replace Twin-Linked Flamers with:
>Twin-Linked Grav-Gun [+15]
>Twin-Linked Heavy Flamer [+10]
>Twin-Linked Plasma-Gun [+10]

Devastator Centurions:
May Replace Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter with:
>Twin-Linked Multi-Melta [+10]
>Twin-Linked Missile Launcher [+15] May Add Flack to all Missile Launchers for +10
>Twin-Linked Plasma-Cannon [+15]
>Twin-Linked Assault Cannon [+20]

This should add a little bit more flexibility and modeling potential.

I like the idea if only for the potential to have two assault cannons modeled onto the centurion model.

Plasma IS fun, but I don't like small blasts.

If it had an option to be S5 ap3 large blast, gets hot I think it'd be awesome

Maybe have the Blast work like the Vindicators:
If you have 3 with small Blast they can fire as 1 Large and if there are 6 it is a Large with a re-roll.

I like this, but I dunno if assault centurions deserve grav or plasma. I would much prefer something with pinning or something analogous to fear for boosting their chances in the actual assault phase.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Deserve, I don't know if that is the right word, but they need something.
Fear is mostly worthless.
As far boosting in the Assault Phase, if you can get them into an Assault, not a lot can stand up to them for long.
Their real problem is not being able to fire over-watch.

Perhaps a decimator--protocol equivalent where they can use their flamers and meltas in the assault phase? That would kind of make up for not being able to overwatch and they's get to do whether they charged or not

I don't normal HQ's (other than Imperial Fist) taking them, but defiantly TechMarines.

but imperial fist Hq's are the most likely to use them given the bonuses they get as well as fluff reasons.

Techmarines would definitely suit them but putting a master of the forge in something like this may result in RAGE.

Master of the Forge In Centurion Armour

lets make it Dev version (we all know its better)

WS4 BS5 S5 T5 W3 I4 A2 Sv 2+ Ld10

Wargear:
- Power Axe
- Servo Harness
- Twin-Linked Heavy Bolters
- Hurricane Bolters

Special Rules:
- Blessing of the Omnissiah
- Decimator Protocols
- Fortify Defenses

then giving him the usual freedom to take relics, (Primarchs wrath pls and thnx), he might just be a really good, if slow HQ choice, which of course means fast kiting units like bikes will probably have afield day. However no one will ever trouble your repairs ever again.

Where is that picture that came up on 4chan of the dreadknight with voltron- style arms and legs made out of centurions? I wish I had kept it now....

I do like the idea of a Tech-Marine in a Centurion Suit with a Conversion Beamer, Thunder Hammer and Servo Harness.

Good Rules, Bad Rules, it would just look cool.

An Idea on the Imperial Fist Character in Centurion Armor.

Is there a reason you changed it so only assault centurions have access to grav now, and devs also lost lascannons? Or are these in addition to existing options?

I dont understand this concept of people complaining about flavor.

Centrurions are great for shooting and spamming Grav.

When the Necron dex came out with their Decurion formations, they bemoan the loss of flavor even though the Decurion formation dominated.

This what I am talking about. It seems the only weapon that is ever used it Grav. I do not recall seeing a single list with Las-Cannons or Heavy Bolters, it is 'All Grav All The Time'

TBF I've seen assault cents used. Its a shame about heavy bolter cents though. The heavy bolter is one of those pieces that looks great, but sucks from a gameplay perspective. If it was 2 heavy bolters and not a single twin linked one maybe its be taken more often?

I might have to talk my group about adding that as a house rule. I do love Heavy Bolters, I use 3 Heavy Bolter Typhoon Speeders all the time...I wonder if Heavy Bolter Missile Launcher Combo might work for Centurions in the same way. Of course with the loss of mobility it might not work real well.

Try putting them in a fortification with an escape hatch towards the front middle of the deployment zone and have them sit there as an Anti-infantry trap.
