(most of those I know that are not happy changed from 40k to 30k and the rest does not play GW games any more)
Also not entirely true - as evidenced by the amount of complaining.
And, sorry, a lot of people that do not love 40K do play it, simply because it is what is being played in their area.
Keep it to 'most 40K players' or 'many 40K players' and it approaches accuracy - anything else is whitewashing, as inherently incorrect as if I claimed that ' 40K players hate the game, but it is the only game that they can find'.
Mind you, I am not enamored of the Warpath rules, either.

They are. I can confirm that AoS style stuff has been shown by GW as of at least a year and a half ago. I was at a convention where 40k monsters and mechs acted the same way as AoS models: hit on 3+, wound on 5+, no rend type stuff cuz everything was big, and shouting silly things for bonuses. I remember thinking " wtf is this crap?" Then I forgot about it. Then AoS happened. It's been in development for a while. It's coming. And I have "played" it for about a ten minute demo. And it sucked.

I actually forgot all about it (purged my memory), and my buddy and I were talking about how boring AoS is, and he owns a game store and said his 40k players were gakking their pants in worry about what was gonna happen to them, and the memory surfaced. I just went "oh gak, remember the game I played with 40k stompy models doing the 'hit on 3+, wound on 5+, yelling waaaagh! for a bonus, etc? That was a year and a half ago. Before AoS. They've been planning it for 40k since at least then!" He's unloading his Eldar fast. This isn't hearsay. I actually played it. And it SUCKS!!

This is why it terrifies me where the Warpath rules are right now.
I'm certainly not expecting a complete, finished and polished product right this second, but the rules have shifted numerous times, drastically, and it worries me that the rules might not be solid, ready, and well-received by the time 'Age of Emperor' hits (The timing of the Warpath Kickstarter, and how quick the KoW 2 KS was following the AoS release lends credence to the theory that this is incoming for 40K in my mind).
If Warpath can be in a position to pick from 40K's remains in the same way KoW did for WHFB following their Ageifications, I think it could put itself in a very strong position to eventually be as popular as KoW is today. However, despite the remarkably-decent model range the KS is shaping up to deliver, I think if they still have nebulous and in-flux rules at that point, it will cripple their ability to convert 40K players en masse.

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

Deadzone rulebook and expansions. Dreadball rulebook and expansions. Some stuff on their blog as well. There really is quite a lot of fluff at this point. Not as much as 40k, sure, but 40k had a quarter of a century to get to where its at.

I've read the Dreadball books and loved them, but I don't recall a whole lot of fluff from my browse through the Deadzone book. Is there any one place where most of this fluff has been gathered and collated, or do I need to scour each supplement and blog post?

Dont think theres an official wiki or something, so scouring seems the best option... though I do think someone did a sort of encyclopedia on his blog... no idea where that was though. Sorry. :/

The one with Asterians and FF in it is great. Incursion, I think.

This has a few interesting short stories that gives you an idea of how the factions interact with each other. I enjoyed reading them.

There's also a deadzone collection of short stories that came with the first DZ kickstarter and another coming with the second.
There's lots of fluff throughout all the DZ books. DZ Incursion has the galaxy map.

I am starting a Warpath/Deadzone/Dreadball Fluff topic - rather than continue dragging this off topic. (Even though I find the off topic discussion more interesting than the original topic.)

I find it hard to believe. I do find it easy to believe that a big game simplified the rules to make it run smooth. That is standard for GW especially with entry/demo games. But don't let me stop the crazy train.
