It says in the fluff half the mechanics joined Horus's side, and they are very clearly the ones keeping chaos marines in gear not just stolen from loyalists. Why not give someone other than imperials valid allies. And do you think they will follow suit when the new guard book comes out, even though traitor guard have been in the fluff since the start?

I feel they missed an opportunity to gap the power valance a bit as well as lost sales to chaos players looking for more options.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Why do that when you can sell an expensive Forge World book to chaos players so they can field those traitor guard and mechanicus allies?

same reason IG can't be BB's with Chaos. They're doing the allies matrix based strictly on what the book represents, which in this case is loyalist AdMech. IG can't be BB's with CSM's because the IG book isn't for Lost and the Damned.

I can see where these would have been cool options, but I can appreciate the reasoning behind why they did these things as well. If IG are anything to judge by, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Dark Mechanicus faction out at some point, the way FW did Renegades and Heretics for Lost and the Damne/Traitor IG equivalents.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Because unlike Admech and the SM, the Darkmech are actually somewhat present in the CSM codex already (defilers, heldrakes, dinobots and the likes)

Will the two eventually split up? possible.
The current CSM codex is not actually CSM, but mishmach of chaos. it has mostly CSM, but also cultists (who have their own RnH armies now), and some DarkMech-and even a few daemons.

Darkmech and Admech are VERY far apart. moreso than IG and HnR or SM and CSM, as darkmech are all about building new and twisted war machines, while admech sticks to the old ways and prefers recovering lost tech.

There were rumors that IA14 will be Admech vs tau...maybe it is actually Darkmech VS tau? keeping up with the chaos theme forgeworld had lately.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Gathering the Informations.

If it was meant to be Dark Mechanicus versus Tau, then the FW guys would have said that.

But it would not be that anyways, as then it would not be "Imperial Armour".

I'd almost expect admech to be giving under-the-table fist bumps to necrons, honestly, as IIRC in the fluff their 'machine spirit' is actually a c'tan sleeping on mars.

And clearly, admech aspire to become living machines.....which necrons already are.

I honestly wish they'd expand on the imperium side of the allies table to allow for more diversity, because it makes sense for some imperium factions to get along better with other factions and to not get along with other imperium factions.

I think the C'tan fluff you're describing is sort of up in the air now as to whether or not it still applies. That fluff was from the original 'cron 'dex which got a pretty big face lift in 5th edition. Also, "machine spirits" aren't the thing they worship. Machine spirits are just AI, basically. If you're rich enough, you can buy a gun with a simple machine spirit in it.

As for a diverse allies chart, what you're describing is 6th edition. And yes, I very much agree with you there.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

GW goes for the main demographic of 40K. I'll bet that Forge World makes a Dark Mechanicum list at some point, just as they've done Renegades and Heretics.

Pretty much that. Assuming GW even thought about it, current AdMech and Dark Mechanicum are most definitely not the same thing. Just look at the differences between AdMech and 30K Mechanicum, and diverge that even more with Chaos mixed in.
