I like the kids from Canada that film theirs in the basement. I also like Long War too. Mini Wargaming gets too many rules wrong for it to suit my taste. I liked it a lot when FLG used to do the short reps.

depend on what you're looking for, striking scorpion is good for thematic looks; frontline gaming is good for balance competitive gaming; the rest are B rated or worse weather due to looks, or unbalanced competition.

Edit: the glacial geek has caught my eye, the paint job is table top but the commentary is quite good, enjoyable while I paint.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc2y1nPhG9Rmiy0g31S2ijg

grimdark gaming also has caught my interest.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVZkk_6AJ0nViiow4U9TZAA

striking scorpion- their production value has gone down a bit due to their popularity, there are much more commercial breaks, and meh codex reviews; however their apoc battles are EPIC!

frontline gaming- camera angle issues like before till they get it setup, very cool interactive twitch tv, rules are usually spot on and both armies relatively even, more unpainted or just tabletop quality armies being shown due to their expansion and often battles, some of the visiting or local players can be salty, perhaps its due to the heat lamp their playing under.

tabletop tactics- great painted miniatures and thematic beginning scene, however the host Lawrence's list is usually quite OP comparing to his opponent when he plays, he needs to dumb down his list or his opponents needs to really step up in the army list area to make the battle enjoyable.

winter seo- very nice armies shown, competitive armies and knowledgable of rules; I wish the host let the opponent talk, he is always narrating the whole damn time, to a point his voice is panting like he is out of breath!

MWG- they have good background music, the rules are wrong often and didn't get caught till its too late, they could mend that by having a stable audience on twitch tv; the miniatures shown are tabletop or above but not great; I stop watching them after they supported BTP.

longwars- wayyy too many commercials making the viewing pleasure very unsatisfactory, I couldn't make it pass 15min in, after clicking to skip 10+ commercials, not just short ones either, some are like 25 min long about some Turkey gak. their miniatures are average airbrushed without brushwork details; their response to my lowering the commercial suggestion was to 'click the skip button', I stopped watching them.

basement collective- they need a better camera and more lighting, the shot is coming from a potato right now, tabletop or above miniatures shown, good narrating and commentary though.

Striking Scorpion 82. Always has really well painted armies and simply awesome looking boards. Videos are really wel done too. They don't show every dice roll, just the important ones. It all comes together and works very well.

used to be StrikingScorpion82, but for me he has stopped in 7th edition making enough good ones, and all the lines seem blurred now with every type of video going up willy nilly, so right now hands down no question: Tabletop Tactics - apparently those guys work in the film industry

SS82, Tabletop Tactics, WinterSeo, Grimdarkgaming.

MWG is all over the place with how they play the game rulewise.

My inspiration was Eldar Corsair. But I love Winter SEO he has a lot of forgeworld goodies!
SS 82 are nice but way to long for me.
Tabletop Tactics - only watch the free ones, competitive, nicely painted.
Frontline Gaming - ITC mostly competitive builds

Cant really sit through a MWG batrep... at all. I love some of the really cool stories and campaign games and the terrain is good as well.

Basement Collective - they have a great mix and they are getting better, just starting out.

IDIC Beer is another one, his are short and neat, tyrannid goodness, necrons as well.

AceFace - tau and good tactical stuff

There are a few others out there but I give them all a change! I remember what it was like starting out. The only thing that drives me nutz are proxies...

Winters and Striking Scorpion - wish they showed a bit more of the gameplay between turns (but otherwise awesome)

Tabletop tactics - great to watch, really like seeing the orks and imperial guard on the table - would like to see them smash the eldar list, would like to see more variety of armies

Miniwargaming - I like their narrative campaigns the best (amazing terrain, conversions, etc), also like beat matt batrep (comon the dance at the beginning is hilarious BEAT MATT BATREP) and dave banter batrep. Some of the newer guys I'm not too fond of yet but maybe they'll grow on me.

Miniwargamer Jay - some fun videos, sometimes his opponents armies are not super well painted...

Veterans of the long war - great looking armies, sometimes their bro speak has me laughing but they are great to watch

Skared cast - your videos are too short for my liking - misses out on all the banter and rolling - catching those emotional moments

Mini wargaming actually has the best narrative campaigns IMO, steer away from regular games if you cringe at rules gaffs but honestly they have great stories and scenarios for their narratives with often a ton of custom pro terrain.

For stand alone videos that are tight with rules and competitive minded without being flavorless I would give it to Tabletop Tactics hands down. Then I'd go with SS82, Skaredcast, winters SEO and the Long War. The rest have either crap looking armies/terrain or the production value is garbage. I used to like FLG but between the fluff killer armies and the constant whining throughout the game along with the often horrible camera angle from eons away over a 3 hour match I can't handle them anymore.

I like Mini Wargaming the most, followed by Frontline Gaming. Yes, I know MWG make a lot of mistakes in a lot of their games, but they also tend to play a large array of armies, so it's reasonable that they will misplay things when they're playing armies that aren't their primary one. However, if you watch ones where they are more familiar with the armies, they'll tend to make far fewer mistakes.

As for Frontline Gaming, I think the only reason I don't like them as much is the lack of music in the background (something MWG does really well), and the fact that their reports aren't edited when they put them up on youtube and as such there's a lot of dead time where they're just thinking about stuff. Though I do like that they do more competitive, and competitive testing (not just playing stock lists) than MWG does.

I tried watching some of the others like Striking Scorp, but too many of them tended to cut too much as opposed to too little, so it would feel more like a recap than an actual game.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

yeah to be fair I do't think it;'s the eldar, as an idea recently the guy took some old dark eldar (the least of all armies) and killed his own eldar list with them, but against another player using them, lawrence (I think that's his name) isn't so much taking over powered lists, he is just a VERY good player.

I personally like Miniwargaming, just because I like the longer batreps where you get to watch the dice rolls. Makes me feel like I'm watching a game.

Tabletop tactics and veterans of the long war are like that and have just as good film quality if you haven't watched them (watch out for veterans bro speak though if you're not used to it )

That's one of my biggest issues with FLG's channel - you don't get to see anything, you're just told what happens.

That and their batreps are either edited down too much (~20 minutes) or not at all (~3 hours).

And I honestly don't think MWG make colossal rules mistakes, generally. And they're fun enough and have good narrative campaigns that it's worth it.

The main guy always introduces himself "Yo dawg, this is Kenny" and says everything is "true story"

I'm canadian so our bro speak is not that strong - these guys talk in PURE bro speak - go watch their channel on youtube, their minis are some of the best painted in batreps, Kenny runs his own airbrushing channel

My preference is MWG as well. They are repeatable and very good on camera (at least the main crew, the others are getting there) and that goes a long way towards making a good, enjoyable battle report.

I'll join the chorus of people who like MWG. Like Krodarklorr, I like that the show actual rolls on the tabletop, and honestly, I don't mind the rules mistakes so much-- most of the time, they own up to them. Admittedly, they can be hit or miss depending on who's presenting, but on the other hand, no one does linked campaigns the same way they do (although the scenario rules in their last campaign seemed pretty dodgy at times).

Otherwise, I enjoy batreps that are descriptive and feature beautifully painted armies, so I really enjoy StrikingScorpion and Winters SEO. THough after some of the replies to this thread, it looks like I'm going to have to check out Tabletop Tactics now.

Also, Peter Crawford's stop-motion batreps are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Checkout veterans of the long war too, they run more competitively than tabletop tactics and MWG and all their armies are super polished and airbrushed very nicely. Also more than the others they go over their tactics - everything they do has a point and they analyze parts of the game the others dont even think of.
Once again - I am warning you about the bro speak though.

Out of curiosity, what are people's thoughts on Guerilla Miniatures Games? I haven't watched too many of his reports, though I do like the fact that he does batreps for specialist games, like BFG and Necromunda.

Also, I want to pose a question back to the OP: did you mean favourite producer of batreps, or favorourite individual Youtube batrep?

MWG hams it up too much for me plus I have seen them make mistakes that were unfortunately game winners... their videos are long and I don;t want to watch a long game decided by error.

Striking Scorpion is very entertaining but I can only watch him beat his brother so many times with basically the same eldar army.
