Ok, me and friend have decided to both start all new armies with the intention to use them for gaming and not just for display (like my blood angels). I love painting tanks so a IG/ AM army was the obvious choice
I have decided to go for a desert theme with lots of brown tones.
Last night I finished up the first model, a chimera. as always CnC is welcome!

Looking good! Your Blood Angels have been an inspiration for me to start painting up my Blood Angels again (see my gallery if you're interested) and as a fellow Guard player who uses a nice sandy/tan color on his tanks (Vostroyans), you've certainly achieved a wonderful blend of weathering and grime/grit along with the battle damage on the tank.
If I could offer any minor criticism, I would say maybe choose a splash of some kind of color to throw onto the turret, or side of the hull perhaps? I use Red on the front-end of the hull on all my tanks personally to tie them together on the tabletop. I think a Blue, or even a neutral color like white would look excellent with the tan/brown color you've gone with here. Just a thought.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work as always. Thanks for sharing, and take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed. |

Really nice, reminds me of the camo skins from Operation Flashpoint
I'd second trying a spot color, maybe a red or blue on the searchlights?

Thanks guys! Just wrapped up my next model, a bog standard Leman Russ. Was a lot of fun using quick methods like dry brushing and sponging

That is a really nice and crisp paintjob. May I ask what colours you used, if I ever start IG?

Thanks Matt!
The base colours are a Zandri dust spray with Mournfang brown for the darker camo patches. Everything was then dry brushed lightly with ubshanti bone and then i added chips to the dark brown by sponging zandri again. Deeper chips down to the metal were made by sponging on a abbadon black/mournfang brown/skavenblight dinge mix.
I then added an oil paint wash into all the recesses using burnt umber.

Nice paint jobs. They remind me of German camo schemes used on the Eastern front.

As a fellow desert themed guard player who's yet to finish a model, this is inspiring. It's also somehow refreshing to see someone with serious painting skill take to the stock standard GW tanks without any conversions. As others have said, the result is super crisp and pleasing to the eye.

Speed painted a sentinel over the course of a few hours. Pretty happy with the result for a tabletop piece.
