I don't care how much climate change or whatever he says.

You should really read, oh, I don't know, ANYTHING about this particular Pope before making ignorant statements.

The dude rode around in the US in a Fiat.

It's a car manufacturer. And honestly, googling "pope fiat" is much quicker than asking what a fiat is on here and waiting for a reply.

Yeah for every act of "humility" he does, he goes out and does something like that.
I still don't like him.

Its a 20 grand car dude.

My car is 3 times that price and my 52 facebook friends pale in comparison to the Pope's billion and some followers.

The model appears to be a Fiat 500L, which is cheaper than several other comparable cars.

The price of a car isn't going to help very many people. How do you know he didn't buy it second hand, was gifted it, or it was bought by an external company (security, etc.).
Nope, he has to ride in style.
Well, he has to ride at least. He wouldn't get very far without being driven by someone.

No, that's not an expensive car.

A) It's Italian. The Vatican is in Italy.
B) No, it isn't expensive.
C) Please, please, please don't make absurd claims about the Catholic Church's generosity with the poor. The Catholic Church and Catholic Charities do more to help the poor than pretty much any other charitable organization on the planet.

Find out you're wrong?

Time to move the goalposts!

Had you read the article I linked, you'd find that this pope has elected to eschew the Papal apartment and lives in a small hotel room in the Vatican.

Don't quite see the stupid in this scenario.
Yep.

I certainly wouldn't turn down an offer to meet the Pope.

I'm struggling to think of anyone who wouldn't want to meet the Pope, given the opportunity. Even the most hardline atheists I know would still love to have a chance to talk to him. It's hardly "stupid stuff" on her part. (Apart from the bragging afterwards, but that's up for debate)

I wouldn't meet with him. I honestly don't see any benefit in meeting the man.

Well, I can't imagine I'd want to meet very many famous people; certainly no politicians or heads of state spring to mind. And meeting the Pope, especially? I mean, you sort of know what he'd say to any given question, since he's the Pope: Stop being a jerk, help others, respect others, be humble, forgive sin, maybe don't play with yourself so much, and so on. I don't think he's going to drop any huge surprises in casual conversation, unless he admits he loves watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians or something.

Still doesnt help the fact that the church themselves has the papal apartments themselves.
And yes, I kne about that long before the visit.
I do not like the catholic church, infact neither does much of my family nor parish(Who is Catholic) because of the money they spend on such luxury things like how much the vatican costs or how much arch-bishops get to live. All while saying they need to help the poor.

Not to mention that he was a Bouncer in the swinging nightlife of his home country.. before being called to the priesthood.

I am NOT Catholic, but I really really respect him..

He stops the car and gets out at a whim (to pray, touch and comfort pretty much anyone) , chortles at the sight of a baby dressed as him.. lives modestly in a small apartment..

So let's talk crap about the pope because of the Catholic Church, and ignore the fact that he does pretty much the exact opposite of what everyone is complaining about:

- Lives in the tiny apartment and makes his own bed because he doesn't want house keepers.
- Eats in the cafeteria at the Vatican and sits down with different groups every day
- Drives a hand-me down old car instead of the Vatican state car, and usually drives himself
- Sneaks out at night as a regular priest to feed he homeless
- Got rid of all the shiny trappings preceded by Benedict and wears the simplest robes and old iron cross instead of gold everything.
- When he met refugees in southern Italy he chastised the bishop and major who came to see him there because they never bothers to visit the refugees themselves.
- Made a German bishop come to the Vatican to explain to him why he was building himself a multi-million dollar apartment and then made him wait a few days before even granting him an audience
- called for a repeal of tax exempt status for church properties and activities that have nothing to do with charity

"I wouldn't want to meet the guy that agrees with me that the church does these bad things bcause he is the leader of the church."

Makes sense.

Ok, so the Vatican (e.g. the Pope) are definitely *not* endorsing crazy Kim.

http://www.politicususa.com/2015/10/02/pope-francis-throws-kim-davis-bigotry-bus.html

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis did not invite Kim Davis to meet him. There was no secret meeting, and the Pope had no idea who she was when he met her.

In a statement, the Vatican clarified that Pope Francis didn’t even know who Kim Davis was:

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/international/vatican-statement.pdf

The brief meeting between Mrs. Kim Davis and Pope Francis at the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, DC has continued to provoke comments and discussion. In order to contribute to an objective understanding of what transpired I am able to clarify the following points:

Pope Francis met with several dozen persons who had been invited by the Nunciature to greet him as he prepared to leave Washington for New York City. Such brief greetings occur on all papal visits and are due to the Pope’s characteristic kindness and availability. The only real audience granted by the Pope at the Nunciature was with one of his former students and his family.

The Pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects.

The Vatican’s version of events is the opposite of what Davis’s supporters are claiming happened. The anti-gay marriage crowd claimed that the Pope met with Davis in secret and expressed his support for her bigotry. The right has been using the imaginary meeting as an endorsement of their out of step views.

The extremist conservative movement’s attempt to use Pope Francis for propaganda purposes has fallen apart. Davis’s invitation had been extended by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the envoy in Washington. Viganò is well known to have gone further than others in the church in his campaign against gay marriage. The Pope did not invite Davis to meet him. In fact, according to the Vatican, Pope Francis had not been briefed on the situation and knew nothing about Davis.

The fact that the Vatican took such pains to distance themselves from Davis could logically be viewed as a rejection of her beliefs.

In other words, another right-wing scheme has blown up in their faces.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Three!! Three successful trades! Ah ah ah!

A Fiat? Expensive? Brand-new in the US with all the options they run about $35K.

Meanwhile, someone else had an actual private meeting with the Pope:

http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/02/us/pope-gay-washington/index.html

So the story started with: Pope had secret meeting with anti-gay clerk. And ends with: shook hands with Davis while she stood in line and had an actual private meeting with old student and friend and his gay partner.
