So I FINALLY got the bloody thing in the post after 2 weeks and to my suprise -
it sucks major dong.
85 Points for a nerfed Captain? Ok MC Powerfist and Artificer Armour as standard is cool but limited Warlord Trait? Ld9? Wat? I thought these guys were meant to be grizzled veterans of crusades far more gruelling than anything in modern 40k! Lack of Eternal Warrior means he dies 99% of the time VS anything in CC even with the fist, and no special rules past Legiones that make him a crap unit-buffer in general. The only thing redeeming about him is the relic, Panoply of the Crusader, which gaks all over CSM and is a nice replacement against the overcosted and highly unreliable Armour Indomitus. But it's a shame, because even though 'Ol Scar-eyes gets a decent relic, it's better spent on high-value units (Smashfucker with Stubborn and PE:(CSM) woah) that'll be targeted by your enemy more.

TL;DR: Run it with it's relic on a Command Squad for FNP, Stubborn, PE and your banner buffs for maximum Bloodletter-turd, if anything. Otherwise have fun converting.

I cant help but think you missed the point somewhere mate.

In 30k - almost nothing has eternal warrior and LD9 is standard as well for centurion level characters. Are you using him in 30k or 40k? In 30k - he is very good! a basic centurion with artificer armour and powerfist is 80 points. You get master crafted for 5 points on the fist which is difficult or impossible to access in most cases. He is actually a bargain for 30k all things considered.

in 40k - with the crusader armour, he is over costed for sure. Stubborn is not needed for most 40k marine units but PE can be nice sometimes - just not for the cost.

I am not sure what you expected to be honest...

Yeah...not sure what exactly you're so upset about the rules were available online before you bought it.

I got mine because it's a cool model, if you were hoping for a limited edition pay to win model with EW, S10 @ initiative with D6+6 Orbital Bombardments a turn, then no wonder your disappointed!

In 40k anybash, he falls short by miles.

indeed i think this guy just isnt the sharpest tool in the shed, like seriously. theres about a dozen 40k commanders forgeworld has put out over the years and he isnt and wasnt viewed as one. hes certainly not the land raider value or any of the badab war hq's. hes a 30k legion marine through and through

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

So when you use something in a game it wasn't intended to be used in, it doesn't perform well?
