@SonOfSigvald... my god man, that is some outstanding work. It's one thing to think up such a cool concept but to pull it off so brilliantly like you have is extraordinary. Kudos.

A bit washed up. Literally lol.

Time for me to change. I have become a miserable old fart at 47. You would have think I would have become better being in the hobby for so long, but this is what happens kids when you give up. Well now it stops for me. I will keep continuing no matter how bad my minis look compared to the awesome work here. I have been miserable for too long and that will change. Sorry if my work is not as good as a lot of people here but I want to be part of the community again instead of arguing with a lot of people. For that I am sorry.

So for now, here is my gang. Finally starting and not giving up anymore. I might be slow, but at least it's coming along now.

A bit dark, but oh well. Don't need to discourage myself anymore now that I can't paint and take pics LOLs.

Hopefully now with me keeping practicing I will eventually get better. Nice to be part of the group again instead of arguing. (Yes I know I argued with someone today but that stops now.)

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Sorry? The important is to share our passion, and pics in this case! Don't care about level of the work, each one of us have different skills and time to dedicate to this hobby, this is not a painting contest is a place to share our project! So don't feel guilty !
Sorry (truly this time ) for my terrible english.

And i agree with mymearan, the great summoner is really well done. Keep practicing and you will inevitably get better!!

I got more dryads done as well as a branchwraith. Trying to get through painting the leaves on a lord before the new releases on saturday.

Treelord at the moment.

So many leaves, it's like painting all the gems on Eldar stuff instead of just painting them like the rest of it.
And kind of inspired by the narrative stuff in the battle rep section I decided to name every single model I'm doing for Sylvaneth; with a random generator for anything not a hero or important guy like treelords of course.

Here's my Sylvaneth I've been painting up over the last few weeks. Timed it quite well with the new models being released on Saturday! More details on how I painted the models can be found on my blog - http://talesofsigmar.blogspot.co.uk/

Also been making some Sylvaneth terrain using the Arcane Ruins and the Citadel Wood canopies.

I've started a wargaming blog - http://magicboltersandrifles.blogspot.co.uk/

Updated with Fantasy, 40K, Flames of War and Bolt Action escapades!

Yeh, I should probably try to get some brighter pics. I'll see what I can do.

Also nice, some more good looking trees.

Due to a mistake with packaging of my start collecting box (problem with the mortarch), GW instantly sent a second box to compensate (including ALL the other boxes too, so I basically got double troops).

I finished those extra troops today and... By using some old chaos cultists, tried to maximise the cavalry box by making cairn wraiths out of the remaining bits for the hexwraiths.

Enjoy!

Just a single flash unit in slave mode to my camera (an old "high end compact), the Fuji X-10. It does allow full manual control. This is just done with natural light from a window, with a fill in flash from the opposing side to compensate.

The background is from Corvus' miniatures blogspot, a RL friend of mine.

Those are some really nice spooky skeletons, only thing that seemed odd to me was the eyes but I'm used to the kind of crazy super glow eyes if the eyes are glowing anyway so don't mind that.

As for my dark pictures I managed to get some while at GW today after just finishing my treelord the night before.

Lost to lizards again, but I figure when I figure out how to deal with a bastiladon I've figured out how to deal with monsters. Hopefully the hunters will help with that a little, though I don't expect them to perform miracles.

I can't get my camera to cooperate with me, so I did some cropping and colour balancing in Photoshop, resulting in more-than-slightly HUGE pics
Spoiler:

I'm wondering if I should add some more weathering/rust/patina to the armour, what do you guys think?

Tactical_Spam: Ezra is fighting reality right now.

War Kitten: Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...

I used the Oxide paint on my Skellies, worked out well!

In small doses I like the oxide look, but I don't like seeing people drown half a model with it like it were a wash

A dust/dirt pigment around the feet would work nice as well. I can't remember trying the GW rust effect but on my old skellies I has just a watered down brown that went over the metals followed by a very watered down orange. They took the shine off so the metals appeared duller, dirtier, and starting to rust. A quick drybrush along the cutting edges of the weapons then makes them look like they have seen use again.

Everyone focuses a lot on the metals when weathering but the shield is a perfect spot for it, if not weathering powders then I'd grab a Tamyia red (or GW's blood effect) and brown (or any brown ink), mix them together, and splatter on some very old dried blood.

*Edit*
Oh god I found an imagine of one of my skeletons from waaaay back when I was playing them. This was like... 4 years ago now.
Spoiler:

I need some eye bleach...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So after not picking up a paintbrush for 4 months (thanks a lot uni..) I have something worth showing off.

I've got a ton of beautiful Dark Elves coming from the Raging Heroes Kickstarter and decided to test a scheme for them on a model I had laying around. There are a couple of parts of it that I kinda look at and think 'ew, no, this needs to be fixed' but for an evenings work after a break I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did.

I think it's also like my second time trying to freehand banner work. Funnily enough the last time I did it was also for Dark elves about 4 years ago, alongside that crappy wight king:

Looks amazing Jono. You've really improved a lot over those 4 years.

Although I think you're modelling for advantage. That tall base is obviously so you're in range to hit flyers, right?

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Of course not, it's so he can wave his banner while being too tall for other people to hit him!

Great job there Ezra, I don't think you need to add in more rust. looks great.

Beautiful job there Jono, nice job. Looking forward to see the entire formation there.

Thanks, yeah he was a blast to paint. Didn't like the gold and blue scheme from GWs pictures but it looks much better when you see it in person I have to say.

First of the Sylvaneth all painted up, just needs varnished after that flock in the base fully dries. Did one the things where other than the base and eyes, the model is painted entirely in one single color base coat, in this case bone, and then different washes are used to color it.

The eyes I used as a first test bed for GW’s new gem glazes, and painted them the new metallic silver with a single thick coat of the blue gem. They’re tiny, but they look nice, and I’ll definitely have to play with these colors more to try out some different effects.
