After much internal debate I have decided to shelve my Guard and dig out my Marines. However, I don't like the drybrushed gunmetal scheme I did with them. Sure, it looks okay and they painted up quick but they aren't vibrant enough for my tastes. Marines are supposed to be Vibrant and colorful. Here are my options.

Salamanders: Friendly guys who make awesome stuff and burn xenos. Awesome.

Iron Hands: THE FLESH IS WEAK! Plus they have some nice HQ builds.

Space Wolves: I could get enough bits from ebay to convert them to the Wolves. Plus, you know. Space Vikings.

Raven Guard: Yeah, I think Raven Guard are pretty cool guys. Plus I don't think I've ever seen them played at my FLGS. So there's that.

Blood Ravens: Funnily enough my first Marine chapter. It'd be interesting to take another crack at the Ravens again. Who knows, I may even commission someone to make me a Captain Boreale.

Blood Angels: Cool guys with cool lore but I'm hesitant to run their rules.

Dark Angels: An interesting choice. I think Dark Angels are really cool in terms of their looks but their lore doesn't excite me. Maybe.

I would say either Blood Ravens or Salamanders. Salamanders have some great Chapter tactics and there's some great conversion potential for them. Blood Ravens on the other hand you rarely see, and you could use any chapter tactic you wanted for them. Plus they have some really cool lore.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

I vote Salamanders as well.

Their color scheme is very pleasant to the eye, and their chapter tactics are both fun and effective, plus their fluff is some of my favorite after the Blood Angels.

Were I to do up a non Blood Angels list, I would do the Salamanders. Also, I could play Christmas Marines with allies if I wanted to (Blood Angels bring the Red, Salamanders bring the green!)

Choose the one that makes you happy in the end. Salamanders with drop pod assault is fun, and effective though.

Take it easy for now.

I vote for a unique colour scheme that you can play as any chapter tactics/codex you want without raising anyone's ire.

Blood Ravens also work.

When you look at the different color schemes, do any of them do anything for you? If not, is there a color scheme that you would like to see them in? If so, just make up your own lore and use whatever chapter tactics you like.

Red Scorpions! I love their colour scheme, they're complete asshats in the lore (as should be the space marine way) and they take pride in their colours (WILL NOT GO TO GROUND) and you can have apothecaries all over the place (tac squads).

Also gives you an excuse to get the wonderful severin loth and his honour guards.

My viewpoint may be slightly biased.

Space Marines: Jacks of all trades yet masters of GRAV CANNONS!!!.
My Star Wars Imperial Codex Project: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/641831.page
It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

So it seems like Salamanders is taking a clear lead here. So, out of curiousity, how do Salamanders do their squad markings? Do they use the standard arrow and chapter symbol for tacs, for example?

Why not your own chapter

so you can vary your play style when you want.

make hints an one or more chapters with color and insignia

Otherwise id say pick the easiest to paint like Iron hands or raven guard.

(black spray paint and silver is stupid quick)

go on lexicanum and look at the space marine list. find a paint scheme or name that sounds cool to you and go from there. I picked Hounds of Demos cause the name is cool and there a blank slate so i can write my own story in this grim dark future.

But Crimson Fists arent yellow! They are a Imperial Fists successor who are dark blue with red hands (Left hand only on regular marines, both hands on veterans, And no hands on scouts)
