This might be obvious, but if I have an entire army of drop pods and ally in one knight, can I null deploy by holding the knight in reserve?

Cheers

Yes, the deployment requirements of 50% are not there anymore. you can put as much or as little of your army in reserve as you like. Obviously allowing for things that must start in reserve.

Oh, really? Could you tell me when the 50% requirement was removed? Obviously I haven't kept up since 7th edition hit

So I can just keep everything in reserve even if several units are not in drop pods and are in different detachments, etc?

Its more along the lines of where does 7th edition limit you to only placing up to half of your force in Reserve?

However if you 0 deploy and your enemy goes first he autowins since there are no enemies on the table at the end of his first turn.

You are wrong:
If at the end of any game turn, one player has no models on the battlefield his opponent automatically wins.
- Sudden Death Victory

Game turn - not player turn. It is absolutely possible to have 0 models in the first enemy turn.

Yeah this is only with a drop pod army for that reason (I'd have 5 arriving bottom of the first turn). I've considered "pod nids" for my other army, but because their "pods" arrive as normal reserves rather than half on turn one, they need units on the table soas not to lose to sudden death. But marines can null deploy with pods fine

Grey Knights in a nemesis strike force can do null deployment first turn, if that interests you

I think they still need to roll to come on though which could be dangerous?
