I really reccommend Legion by Dan Abnett, it's one of the better BL books I've read.

I like Wrath of Iron by Chris Wraight a lot. It is a nice change from the "Space Marines are heroes" you see in a lot of other books. There is also a nice variation in different viewpoints, with SM, IG, AdMech and civilian main characters.

If you don't mind audio books, get Ahriman: The First Prince.
Just listened to it, and I think it's pretty good.

Anything by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. His series with the Word Bearers is very enjoyable. First Heretic, Aurelian, Betrayer and a few others that feature the Word Bearers or the World Eaters. And as said before, his Night Lord series and Prince of Crows series. I still prefer Lord of the Night when it comes to Night Lords though.

Check out the short story compilation 'Let the Galaxy Burn,' edited by Christian Dunn and Marc Gascoigne. It's a HUGE collection with a diverse range of authors and topics, some of which even feature characters from novel series. This really helped me identify authors and areas I wanted to read about when I started, plus a few I wanted to avoid.

I recommend Betrayer by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, it's really good and is about the Word Bearers and the World Eaters.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Hello,
Seeing as I'm dedicated to Tau, I can suggest "Fire Warrior" by Simon Spurrier. I literally picked it up Saturday morning and did not put it down until Saturday night when it was completed.
The great part about the book is that is gives a lot of exposure to Tau culture and philosophy, but it also has strong appearances by Ultra Marines and Chaos Undivided to keep it grounded in that "grimdark" feel of the 40k universe.
There is copious amounts of violence, a range of appearances of various units like dreadnaughts, raptors, and various demons, and good character development to boot.
Check it out!

A couple of them do - The Traitor's Hand, and an earlier short story.
Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies are worth a read - Eisenhorn especially. There's something about the antagonists' organisation in the Ravenor series that reminds me of Stuart MacBride's Halfhead (which despite being set in a near-future Glasgow would work well transposed to an Imperial hive).

I would say the Eisenhorn Trilogy by Dan Abnett is really worth reading, great story, great characters.
I'm currently reading A Thousand Sons (McNeill) and Ravenor Returned (Abnett), both of which are good reads.
Generally speaking (and this is fast turning into an echo chamber in here), anything by Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill and Aaron-Dembski Bowdan are quality works of fiction.
For the love of the Emperor, stay away from -anything- written by C.S. Goto.

You can either get Night Lords: The Omnibus (2014), or each one separately, used probably. Soul Hunter (2010) Blood Reaver (2011) Void Stalker (2012) Edit: I guess you're way ahead of me. After you read those, if you're still interested in Chaos, there is a series that just started for Ahriman. Ahriman: Exile and Ahriman: Sorcerer. They're OK, if you like crazy psychers and stuff.

Matter of opinion - personally I found Soul Hunter dreary and couldn't finish it. It just lacked the personality, the verve, of Abnett's books.
But then, I don't like Space Marines.

\ If you got the Night Lords Omnibus, you don't need Blood Reaver, Void Stalker, and Soul Hunter. The omnibus is all of them. Sorry for the confusion. Edit: NVM. On the same page.
