Many people dislike using the word "Decurion" if it doesn't apply to Necrons. They say that it shold be called a "Formation detachment". But a "Formation detachment" is just a single Formation. Therefore we are left with a problem - how can we call non-necron Decurions?

Formation is an accurate, succinct term.

Personally I use the term for the new detachments per the specific codex:

Gladius = space marines/da
Warhost = eldar
Decurion = crons
Cadre = tau

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I have been calling them meta formations when discussing the general case. Using decurion bothers me since there's ambiguity about whether you're specifically referring to the necron one.

This for me. People know what you're talking about.

I prefer to be specific when dealing with a faction's formations. But for the general term for these kind of detachments, I like to use Voltron Detachment.

It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

The simplest term I can think of is 'Multi-Formation Detachment'. Covers the concept generically rather than being faction-specific, can refer to hypothetical ones as well as existing ones, and as far as I know, doesn't share the acronym MFD with anything in the Dakka Glossary.

I'm not the first to suggest this, for the record, I'm honestly surprised it hasn't caught on actually.

If I say 'Tau got a new Decurion' then people aren't going to confuse it with the Necron one. Nine times out of ten, the conversation is going to be about a specific army and anyone that confuses what I mean with Necrons is having a bit of a brainfart and they'll get back on track. I'll try to use the name of it when talking about it at length, but they will always be (Faction) Decurion in casual conversation.

I used the term 'superdetachment' or 'super detachment'.

Voltron detachment - sounds realy oldscool. I like it
But an MFD is also realy good. Alas, over here in Eastern Europe we will continue to hear of eldar decurions and space marine decurions...

Or you can just keep buying chaos everything, and not play them. Just sit alone in your room for years, painting and detailing, and detailing some more. Then keep doing that for years until you own upwards of 10000 points of chaos. Keep shining their swords and sharpening their knives. Then some day, some wonderful day, when a new book comes out that will realize your armies' potential, come out from hiding. Everyone will have thought you had left warhammer 40k for good, but no, you had been training, preparing, and brooding for this moment. Return with such vengeance and hatred that you will not hold back, and you will destroy everything in your path. Like a true chaos crusade, wait for the right moment, then burst forth from the Eye of Terror and unleash your pain on the whole universe. And when they cry and complain that you are OP and that it's not fair. Reassure them that it's true. It isn't fair, but it's what they DESERVE. All of them, each and every one of them deserve to be obliterated into oblivion. And if they ask you to play with a fluffy army, tell them you will do so. But on game day bring the meanest nastiest, ugliest army you can. Give them no opportunity for victory, give them no opportunity for enjoyment. Your only goal is to inflict as much pain and suffering as possible. And when they cry, and they will cry, laugh at them, drink their salty tears, and bath in their sweet, sweet blood.
