I am so excited to see this book up for pre-orders. I know that I only have to wait a month...but I wonder who the "Night -stalkers" are.

I played a 2,000 point game versus the Empire of Dust, and it was a great game. Strong, but not crazy.

I cannot wait to try out my 2,000 point Brotherhood list.

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...

6,800 Pts. Ultramarines, 1,500 Pts. Deathwatch, 1,000 Pts. Black Templars, 1,000 Pts. Blood Ravens, 1,000 Pts. Emperors Children, 2,000 Pts. Word Bearers, 3,500 Pts. Eldar (Alaitoc or Biel-tan), 2,000 Pts. Tau, 2,000 Pts. Sisters of Battle, 999 Pts. of Thousand Sons, 1,000 Points Dark Eldar, 1,000 Points Adeptus Arbites, 1,000 Points Freebooters, 1,000 Points "Last Chancers", 1,000 Points Tyranids, 1,000 Points Necrons

2,500 Pts. Brotherhood, 2,000 Pts. Undead, 2,000 Pts. Sylvan Kin Elves, 2,000 Pts. Empire of Dust, 3,000 Pts. Orcs with Goblin Allies

5 Necromunda Gangs, 10 Mordheim Warbands, and 5 Frostgrave warbands

I ended up ordering a physical copy, and will be getting the Mantic Digital one (mostly for the .pdf version), as well. I'm terribly excited, and the beta lists were so enjoyable that the wife and I both made our winter projects, and upcoming holiday gifting, all centered around building new armies.

The Rules Committee's level of balance/polish is without rebuke, and having more of that to widen the KoW game is a terrific thing.

If anything, KoW, to me, has been all about creating a supported, but also very customer-centric, fan-centric game. Its almost like a professionally backed version of what the 9th Age fans are going for. As a result its a best of all worlds product that I am just madly in love with.

So yeah... a bunch of new armies to play, and play against? HELL YES.

I'll be doing an exclusive run-through of the book (including the night-stalkers) with the Counter-Charge podcast guys in the next couple of weeks. The cast will then go out with the book launch.

No, not really....

Not many games use To Hit Tables anymore.

The Auld Grump, who predates that THAC0 nonsense....

Kings of War is exactly what I needed after the collapse of Warhammer fantasy. I'm struggling right now to decide if I liked 8th better or not. I can't wait for this expansion - I haven't been this excited for rules in a long time.

Well said Clarence (you don't happen to be MiniWarGaming.com regular, Clarence do you?).

I admit, I am still using a 50/50 mix of Mantic models and GW/other ones, which pains me. I wish I found Mantic models as consistently enjoyable to assemble/paint, as I love the game enough to constantly want to support that companies growth, with purchases.

A lot of my stuff is a mix from many manufacturers. My ogre army for example is mostly Mantic but with Scibor and Reaper models too and some customisations using GW parts and other resin bits from elsewhere.

Yep, that would be me! I'll be back home in Canada early January filming with them. I've e-mailed them about doing Kings of War but Matt doesn't seem to keen at the moment. Steve seems to be on board, and he's trying to sway Matt. I'll be hopefully filming Kings of War with Ash on his youtube channel (Guerrilla Miniature Games) if I can get everything painted in time.

Sounds great on all counts man! I've been trying to push for the MWG to seriously add KoW to the rotation as well, and have ever since Sigmar appeared.

I feel like there is a real hunger for mass battles content, and I can't think of a better game for the task.

Likewise, i'm trying to hook Ash up with some free KoW swag precisely for the purpose of getting some batreps going, so apparently we've been working the same tasks from opposite ends.

And you're gonna be a great guy to demo the game. Your rules knowledge that you always show when recording with the guys will help make for a smooth intro to the game.

Looks good but Mantic don't get another penny until my Kickstarter KoW rulebook turns up.

You know, I somehow never noticed there was a digital tab on their site. My buying this has gone from likely to absolutely certain.

That is excellent! When does the pdf hit? I've asked my local store to order a copy, but would likely pick up the digital version, too

It's already available via mantic digital. At least, I was able to download my pre-order from there today.

I had a good read through Uncharted Empires today.

I quite like the backstory for the Brotherhood, and they make a pretty decent knight army analogue. Good work!

I'm probably going to collect Salamanders, but I might tinker with the background a bit and make them more like D'n'D dragonborn in my headcanon. I like the list though.

Of the rest, they all look fairly interesting but the Fishmen list and the Night Stalkers are definitely the most interesting.

Seems to me you could fit Tyranids into the Night Stalker army list actually with a little modification and so on. They're a pretty cool army because they're quite different looks wise to anything else in Mantic's catalogue and pretty creepy and Lovecraftian in flavour. I would probably ignore the backstory though and just have them be ineffable horrors from beyond reality.

All in all definitely worth the price I paid for it, very much so! Cheers Matt and the rules committee.

Nothing worse than pre-ordering only to find it appears in the local shop before your copy.
Ahhhhhhhhhh
On the plus side those night terror things that the dweebz kept doing the whole 'I know about it you dont' thing are pretty cool. Getting me some of those

My digital book opened right on time, but oddly, I think my physical book from Mantic's webstore is being held-up by movement trays which I also included in an order.

My wife ordered a mountain of in-stock items, and movement trays as well, and her order hasn't shipped either.

Oooo.... has it been released?
Guess I'm waiting for my pre-order copy to amble its way 50 miles northwards of Mantic HQ.
Hoping it gets here for the weekend.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

There are plans for doing historical games using the Kings of War system for the basic rules - more specific than the deliberately generic Kingdoms of Men.
