There is this bit of fluff in White Dwarf Weekly #56 'Regiments of Renown' article:

‘The Mourned’ is a Death Company strike force attached to the Blood Angels 2nd Company, who have been fighting against the warriors of the Tau Empire’s N’dras Sept on the borders of the Damocles Gulf.

Honoured Ancient Baelon, entombed within the life-sustaining sarcophagus of a Dreadnought since the Kemmock Insurrection in late M.39, acts as the lynchpin of this formation. Baelon commands enough order and respect from the rest of the Death Company within the strike force to ensure their missions are achieved. Unfortunately, the Black Rage increasingly threatens to utterly overwhelm these noble warriors, and Captain Aphael fears that they will soon be completely beyond all control, unless death can claim them first.

So it s within the realm of possibility that the Blood Angels releases are indeed a part of the Mont'ka campaign book.

defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

I'm super excited to see what they are giving guard in the formations, and just how many they are actually getting. From the description It read like relentless and scout but the again I'be never been good at the guessing game.

Hats off to gw though for these multifaction releases, they really nailed a way to generated excitement for multiple players types. Now if we can just get some leaks to verify if the excitement is warranted.

New clown formation possibility? I hope to Laughing god it's true.

Also the guard needs a ton of help now a days. I hope we finally get something nice.

Guard platoon turning into a formation just seems logical. It was basically the ur-formation.

Nice. So I guess they upgrade the FE Supplement with Mont'Ka or replace it with it. Or both like with the Tau:Codex.

There's a rumor that FSE is coming Q1 2016, I think. Though I don't know how much truth there is to that, with datacards coming out now...

Could be that Q1 2016 will see a standalone book rather than an alternate list.

It made me wonder about the FSE in Jan/Feb rumors too. The era of Codex Supplements seems to have ended.

If they put future faction supplements into campaign books like Kauyon, that's a welcome replacement for the quite expensive (~ 72 pages) hardcover supps.

What I'm meaning is something like them publishing a "Codex: Farsight" that is basically Codex: Tau Empire but with Farsight fluff, Objectives, and stuff like that.

The Eight always had rules since they were introduced. They just in general weren't unique rules except for being able to field so many commanders together.

Chillax, Verv.

Should go up for preorder on Saturday with "Mont'Ka".
Additionally there are Farsight Enclaves cards.

It actually doesn't look that much different. The part boxed in is exactly eight entries, with the top one being "Commander Farsight".

Under special rules, all I can make out is the very bottom which is "Preferred Enemy".

People might have been confused if they got the version of the FSE book that didn't have stats and points costs for The Eight.

That one threw me for a loop when I first got it, I must admit!

Forcing you to take all eight of the Eight to take the Eight seems a step backwards, but at least it's a fluffy formation if you do want all of them fielded at once.

I WAS hoping that the Eight would each get individual Datasheets, but given that picture...

Looks like Commander Farsight is the first required model listed. The others all look to have a bold faced name with a section below detailing equipment. This would ONLY be necessary if there are NOT going to be Datasheets for each of the Eight. Also leads me to believe that you can no longer field some of them. You'd need to field all or nothing.

This potentially makes me sad.

Truthfully, you should never have been allowed to take them the way FSE allowed you to.

Should be that you buy them all as a unit and can deploy them as you see fit. These are heroes among heroes, not just Joe Sergeant.

The fact that they're fancy special named characters is what makes it kinda silly to have them all there at once.

It's like having a unit of eight chapter masters.

I have found the idea of the 8 to be kinda silly TBH. They have mismatched gear and so forther.

Ehhh.

It's more like General Myndoras Odon in Imperial Armour 11. He's a named Guard Commander with a Command Squad that dictates what they have(One Veteran Guardsman has a Vox, one replaces his Lasgun with a Meltagun, one has the Regimental Banner, and the last one retains his Lasgun). The squad then retains the ability to take Regimental Advisors and their Bodyguards from the Codex: IG, and can purchase a Chimera/Valkyrie as a DT option.

In the case of taking Farsight, it always should be that if he takes a Command Team? It's The Eight. They're HIS Command Team.

Because they're individuals who, in the fluff, break off and perform specific roles.

The Broadside, for example, will break off and perform fire support while Torchstar burns enemies out of fortifications etc.

They basically give you a signature system sampler. Almost every piece of special-issue and unique gear is covered by one of the eight, even the useless gear. If they have the same loadout as they did last edition and you have to take all of them, nobody's going to bother.

I agree The 8 are pretty expensive, and they certainly do battle without getting together everytime. If this formation doesn't allow you to field those of them you want... meh.
Gonna wait for a better picture for the verdict.

If taken as a single unit, yes. And they aren't particularly well suited to building an army around using all their talents because together they essentially are an army.

Let's use Torchstar as a random example.

She has twin flamers, a drone controller, a target lock, two marker drones and signiatur systems to support that.

Pretty fluffy command style suggested there: She likes to take a flamer crisis unit, torch hordes up close and personal, yet takes the time to provide marker support to pick out what targets the rest of her force need to focus on.

You can construct a commander to nearly be Torchstar, I suppose.

No, I mean their individual gear is weird. like Arrakon has 3 weapons when he can only fire 2.
One has a plasma/flamer. one anti heavy infantry, the other light.
Its all very unoptimized. And thats from a fluff standpoint too.

How are we supposed to take these commanders seriously if they haven't figured out how to not mix your crisis suit weapons or twinlink BS5.

Come on people, we look up to you

Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good.
