Looking at 1d4chan and the article mentions Nightstalkers. They sound cool but there don't seem to be any models to represent them?

Any ideas, guys? (Also, where is the art the article refers to?)

Aaannnd now my head is picturing an army based on Nightmare Before Christmas....

The Auld Grump - Boys and girls of very age, wouldn't you like to see something strange....

RAFM makes scarecrows and ghosts, as well as other odd monsters in their Call of Cthulhu line. No doubt Reaper has something, because Reaper has everything.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Man, I'm all about some pumpkin-headed monstrosities

To that end, Anvil Industry makes a sprue of Pumpkin Heads, and Reaper has a pretty well-loved pack of Jack O'Lanterns & Pumpkins, as well as Rotpatch, maybe the coolest golem ever. While searching for those Anvil heads I stumbled across Blood Beast's various Halloween one-offs, and damn they're awesome: http://bloodybeast.com/tag/halloween/

Addendum: I am even more excited for Uncharted Empires now

Spirit Host would probably also work. Also that Golem is freakin sweet as are the Pumpkinhead Lichguard.

I second Reaper, especially their Warlord line as they have some pretty sweet stuff on there, like this beauty: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Warlord/sku-down/50062

And of course, being creative is half the fun.

After hearing about the "Dopplegangers" unit on the 4-ft-snake Podcast today I immediately started prepping some translucent gelatinous cubes from DnD on multi-bases. :-p

There's a Mythos expansion pack and a certain black goat coming with Bones 3 that would fit this army.

A demonic army based around, say, a dark god who says "just as planned" a lot, would also work well, probably better than trying to wedge the same demons into the more burn and stab Abyssal list.

So, the book is out... what are the Nightstalkers like?

Shadow demons / spectres, basically.

From my reading of the background, they are manifestations of fear and other negative emotions, so they can really look like just about anything. The outlines in the book look a little 'nid-ish but with horror elements like hoods and cleavers, though it could just be the Cthulhu influence.

One art piece shows an ambulatory scarecrow with a pumpkin head though, and that is an entire unit (scarecrows). So it's pretty wide open.

Cool army concept though. And nicely distinct from the Abyssals.

Having now got my book and read up on the night-stalkers I have a very definite use lined up for all the stuff that will eventually be coming my way from the 7 Sins kickstarter

Just think of all the things that you could drop in there to up the scare factor - Freddy Krueger, scarecrows, the hook man...

I know that Countercharge mentioned Hellraiser stuff.

Although, all that I can think of is digging out some Nid models and painting them black!

None of your links are working, I'm afraid. Those kitbashes are nifty, though.

Got my copy of Uncharted Empires yesterday. My Undead are begging for some of these guys as allies. If I can get to a point where I can add and all-conversion force to my pile of miniatures projects, that is...

I like the spider-demon thing, can certainly get behind that. I've also been digging up quasi-formless / energy-based minis for a third take on 'Stalkers.

But back on the pumpkin-headed track, here's another one:

I haven't had time to look into that list yet, but I had my Cthulhu Wars models finally turn up the other day. Any idea how well those would work? There's a heavy proportion of medium to large-sized beasties there in the Cthulhu stuff rather than trooper-sized models, but thematically they seem like they'd be a good match.

Not where I should be

Going to be watching closely as this is one I really like the look of, Just got the books and never had a game yet, not even got any models, but of all the armies listed this one really got me, I need to do this.

And surely Cthulhu must fit in, some of those mini's are amazing.

Oh yeah, they will. I just haven't gotten around to even trying to think about it in detail yet. Or even open up my CW stuff. Too busy with too much else. :(

I can't decide which profile to use for Mashaaf, but she's definitely on my list of gribblies.

I want to find something useful for the "blood worms". I've got some reaper giant ticks but not enough. Probably something that could be done with greenstuff/hobby materials.

Considering taking some of my genestealers for use as... something. They'd need different faces. Maybe tattered robes greenstuffed on, use them for reapers or one of those similar units.

There's some kind of ogre sized snake-ish unit too right? The bathalians and tyranid raveners would work for that probably.

Its on the back-burner, but I would definitely like to make a small force of Nightstalkers in the future.
