Waitasecond... there are Genestealer Familiars here. Genestealer Familiars! Talk about reaching back into the history of 40k.

I just happen to have 12 of the original little buggers. They're so cute (and terrifying!).

Was that an old school thing too then?

Yes. The 1st edition Genestealer Cult army list (which was a brood that had turned to the worship of Chaos) could have daemonic familiars for any psychic cult members. They were usually shaped like miniature genestealers. You can see the originals here:

I am guessing the first and second gen cultists will be duplicates. I don't see any others though. The most disappointing part of the space hulk reboot was the duplicate stealers. P.s. No board pictures yet?

The Marine figures are very nice. I look forward to watching them die at the hands of the Brotherhood... muhahahahaah

Aware of this, I'm just spit-balling that maybe the Patriarch was retconned into the Broodlord and this guy was put in place of the Patriarch? We will have to wait and see how they expand the range, if at all.

From what I can gather there's going to be a campaign book thing like fenris bookended by the two mini armies... I'm not 100% on that but due to my very limited polish that's what I got from my conversation

Pair that with Tyranids afterwards to expand and possibly include the GSC, and I'll be a happy bug. Lots to look forward to.

But only two of each if my maths is right. That means it's easy to switch heads around and so on to make the all unique; that's what I did with the dark heresy cultists.

Sad Panda had rumored a new Broodlord model in the boxed game and we saw the spikey fella in the video. I am sure there will be one.

11 Marines + 39 GC models ?

I think if the Patriarch shows up again it'll be something like this. The current Broodlord being a sergeant level model what ever leads the army should reasonably be superior to just a sergeant type.

Brilliant.

They should re-release Space Hulk and then produce a campaign pack so you can swap models between game systems (e.g. Blood Angel Terminators versus cultists on a spaceship).

As in there's a mining colony or something on a Space Hulk/asteroid maybe?

Really, really impressed with these- the cult models are fantastic and the painting is just gorgeous. I wasn't a big fan of the old cult and I hated the purple scheme but these are wonderful- definitely getting this and looking forward to seeing the brood lord/patriarch. The marines are pretty nice as well and I'm not a big fan of marines. Very impressive.

Regarding the Space Hulk crossover. Current SH is based on 1st ed (like 90+%). Psychic powers got fixed and there are other changes but you should be able to use 1st ed material in today's game.

Don't think so, but they could be mutant Genestealer hybrids now? Gotta give them more stuff if they're getting a possible army book... -crossesfingers-

Expect to see those 4th gen hybrids used as the base of many, many Inq28 conversions.

Already planned uses for my 4th gens: actual 4th gens, 30K Strike Force Alpha Legion Operatives(hooded heads & cloaks added, weapons converted to silenced SMGs), and 40K INQ28 Rogue Trader armsmen(diving suit-style locking cuffs added to suit, quilted tabard on torso, air supply on back, and armoured helmets). Maybe also servitors or AdMech menials. The Primus will make an excellent radical Inquisitor with psychic hood with only a few tweaks. The Aberrants will likely end up as the basis for a lot of cool Abhuman/Twist conversions. It's like an entire box full of WHFB Nurgle Lord models, from an INQ28 perspective

I honestly didn't think I could be more hyped for a GW release than I was for the various Mechanicus/Mechanicum releases, but it's happening.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

.. but the guy on a bike has me wondering.

TBF if you wanted a biker to drive through crazy tunnels then a White Scars guy would probably be your goto guy.

I doubt that about the Abberants, the original hosts stay their native race, but are mind-slaves. The Abberants have to come later on, during one of the generations.

I am hopeful for a Patriarch.

Looking at the WD page pics, we don't have page 8 which looks like it would be the first page of the Genestealer models.
